Not a full field for Cup race...

Although I have to ask this. Were there any cup races that did not have full field before?

Low downforce for everyone on a fast and smooth 1.5-miler = lots of caution laps.

When NASCAR announced the charter system, they said 36 would be considered a full field. Everyone hated the start and park cars, so NASCAR cut the purse money for non-charter teams and low place finishers to not make this economic for teams to do.

I'd rather see 36 cars trying to complete the full race than 36 cars doing so and 7 just hitting the garage after 1 lap.

Don't knock it, he's in the third best car on the grid now and it's only a matter of time...

Yay for moving the goalposts and pricing out the low-buck teams.

The low buck teams competing in a 43 car field that complete a lap and head to the garage for a paycheck and won't exist a year later? Hardly what I think of when I think of motor racing but hey, keep it going, a 42 place finish is coming at some point. Those teams that aren't even on the track by double digit laps so by lap 10 there's only 40 cars anyway?

Kentucky had a short field a few years ago before the Charter came about.
