The opening round of the 2017 IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship takes places this weekend, at the historic Daytona International Speedway. 24 hours, twice around the clock. New machinery in the Prototype class means it's anyone's ball game, as well as new manufactures into the GTD class.

CTSCC also opens their season this weekend, with a new format 4-hour enduro for the GS and ST cars.

Spotter Guide and Entry List for WSC(55 cars) and CTSCC(41 cars).

Are there any live streams for practice/qualifying tomorrow? I'm home with the flu and need something besides sports talk shows and old Westerns to watch.

Excited for this race.

Have you guys seen these tech tour videos? Apologies if posted elsewhere. I thought for a second Jordan was actually going to take something seriously here but then he drops quite the line when discussing the new air conditioning system.

Looks like I can answer my own question. Qualifying for the WeatherTech cars will be live in IMSA.com. Schedule says that's 3:10 this afternoon.

They used to have a Ferrari Challenge race as well, not sure if that series is still even around?

PC's are gone after this year and they're not being replaced as a class with the big boys. So sayeth radio lemans anyway.

In GTLM, lord have mercy the Ford's are fast. Swept the top 3 spots. The BMW's look like lumoxes out there. Nowhere near as sleek looking as the rest of the lot. Porsche's looked decent, Ferrari and Corvette fairly close. 1.5 seconds or so covering all 11 cars in class.

Big bore prototypes up next.

The series is still around, season opener will be in May at Laguna Seca.

They might had left Daytona off this year as they ran it twice last year, and to allow more track time for new cars in both IWSC & CTSCC. Plus the CTSCC race is a 4 hour enduro now too so there is already less track time.
