I'm afraid with the scrapping of PC challenge all those mediocre drivers might come up to the prototype class from now on.

Good point. Does IMSA have any plans to adopt the LMP3 class in any form?

According to rlm they won't introduce lmp3 for the foreseeable future. I hope they change their mind.

It's the top class of the Prototype Challenge now with the old Mazdas being made a second class. Apparently 12-15 of them have signed up.

So it's basically a support class? Maybe imsa actually likes to have gentleman drivers aiming for overall wins (money). That's risky though.

IMSA is introducing LMP3's into competition starting at Sebring. However only in the newly renamed Prototype Challenge series (along with Prototype Lites)

Yup, the Prototype Challenge (confusing I know as it's a class in the Weathertech Series as well) is the top support race at most IMSA weekends previously using a one-make Mazda chassis with an Elan engine. Pretty boring and spread out most times I've seen it but with the introduction of the LMP3 cars, I'll definitely be having a look.
