Can’t stop thinking that the new logo was designed to look good alongside ESPN’s logo

Interestingly Sean Bratches (F1's new Managing Director of Commercial Operations).......
https://www.formula1.com/en/latest/head ... roles.html

Quote:
Sean Bratches is credited as one of ESPN’s most influential leaders, with over 27 years of experience, most recently as Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing. His career has been defined by innovation and vision, and his contributions helped to fuel tremendous growth in ESPN's brand and revenue. Sean oversaw ESPN’s two primary revenue streams, advertising and sponsor sales and content licensing, as well as the research and analytics, marketing, consumer products and events marketing divisions.

He led a sales and marketing team that provided national advertisers access to ESPN’s premier media and marketing platforms and oversaw all content licensing for the domestic cable and satellite networks of The Walt Disney Company to its linear and emerging multi-channel affiliates. These assets included: ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN Classic, ESPNEWS, ESPN Deportes, ESPNU, ESPN SEC Network, The Longhorn Network and ESPN3. He also was responsible for the distribution of related HDTV, broadband, video-on-demand, subscription video-on-demand, interactive television, pay-per-view, Spanish-language, and sports syndication products.

Which US network was recently pretty much handed F1TV rights in the US basically for free? :p ;)

In some positive 2018 news, They have confirmed there will be 2 OTT streaming platform's. One will feature live content (Geo-Blocked in many regions, UK included), The other non-live.

The non-live platform from what i've seen mentioned seems like it will be data driven, Allowing you to view all the telemetry & compare between drivers. Perhaps allowing fans to put together things like this:

I have a hard time with this fonts, but I like the logo. I think it is imposing just like the way F1 is.

That's fucking insulting to the Wipeout franchise.

This shit looks like mid-2000 graphics when all the rave was customizing your desktop and cluttering everything everywhere all the time.

Apparently these are the logos that didn't get chosen.

I think Liberty Media treats F1 like it was an "A1GP series" or something like that. I'm afraid that F1 brand may have gone to wrong hands. It may be people who really doesn't have any idea of what commercial product they have in hands.

Couple this with the fact FIA is also being mismanaged by Jean Todt then it seems to me that we are facing a disaster.

Those are some horribly shite logos. The 2nd one on the 4th row on the left looks like it came straight out of a 90's public channel jingle, whilst pretty much all of the ones on the right have nothing to do with F1.

Oh, and the Cingular logo.

4th logo on row 3 is a winner in my book. How can you not love a logo where the 1 looks like a skidmark in both senses of the word?

I'm disappointed they didn't use one of the bad tribal tatts on the bottom row.

First logo in the 5th row (in the right) would fit perfectly as F1 logo in the 70's.

Stop equivocating. Is F1 (or R1) dead or not? :p

I think it would have been better if they built on the old logo rather than coming up with something completely different.

I think the old one was clear & clever, You could easily tell what it said & associate it with the F1 brand & the hidden 1 was clever.

I think the new one is none of those things. I don't think it's especially clear as been been F1, I don't think it's especially interesting, I don't think it looks especially good & there's nothing too clever about it regardless of what they say it's meant to represent.

I also don't think it looks good on the cap's during the unveil yesterday, Looked like some sort of cheap knock-off & isn't something I'd want to buy, Let alone wear.

It's decided, deal with it.

Just wait until you see the halo shite on all cars next season in Melbourne. If that race is shit and 1 team dominates, I'm out for 2018 and I'll wait until 2021.

I like a lot the first 3 ones from 5th row. Looks very 90's, you see that and remember those green jordans and the Ligiers and Ferrari with black wings and gold rims and nowhere near the podium

Also, the whole “cars side by side racing to the line” concept of the logo, it’s flawed, as we all now that cars can’t follow each other, let alone race side by side.
