Well for me, after they got over the whole 2014 monstrosities (no doubt the worst looking cars in F1 history), they started to look pretty sharp, particularly the mercedes and Ferraris

This year was a step in the right direction to make them visually more appealing (sacrificing close racing as always happens whenever downforce is increased) and then they again managed an own goal by not banning the shark fins as soon as the teams saw that loophole
Then the t-wings, pencil noses and even the stepped noses started to bleed back through, and we're back into uggo land in my opinion.

If we do get the t-wings off next year, that will be an improvement, but this is F1 so I expect them to have double sized t-wings or 4 t-wings or something instead :p

F1 needs to bring back high noses. Get rid of the low nose shit.

Personally, not been a big fan of this years cars.

About half way between the two heights (this years and the highest) is nicest, F1 cars are supposed to be cutting edge and look like rockets on wheels, not a sleeping squid. This years cars look OK from side on, but as soon as you walk in front of them the side pods make them look anorexic, they should make the rules that the outer edge of the side pod should be level with the floor edge, they might look better that way.

All of this debate is irrelevant, whatever they do to the cars next year, the halo will render them ugly as fuck.

Sorry, I thought Halo was just one of those bad dreams you forget about when you woke up.

In a shocking turn of events, the FIA has been forced to admit that hey, you know maybe they might be responsible for the safety of F1 personnel after all, after they issued a statement that basically said nah uh safety is the promoters job, nothing to do with us here :whistling:

Seems they were considering making changes to the Melbourne circuit in order to add another DRS zone/passing opportunity:
https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/13304 ... it-changes

Quote:
Autosport understands that the Australian Grand Prix Corporation investigated making a significant change to the Lakeside Drive part of the Melbourne circuit, replacing the fast Turn 11/12 complex with a 'stop' corner to create another passing opportunity.

The plan would have changed the profile of the back straight to make it longer and faster, leading into a hard braking zone and a tight left-hander.

With a new DRS zone in place, the idea was that it would create a new place to pass on the mostly-flowing layout.

But it appears that the existing layout will remain unchanged in at least the short term.

Given how good turns 11/12 currently are I hope they don't change them.

Oh ffs, the track is fine, its actually one of the best on the calendar. And T11/12 is not to be touched Tilke, you hear me?!

Passing into T1 and T2 is perfectly possible. Unless you sit in a McLaren. Or STR.

Passing at Melbourne is extremely difficult.

So there are three possibilities:
One, leave it as it is.
Two, change the circuit.
Three, change the cars.

I'd like them to change the cars and reduce their aero-dependence. Therefore, more overtaking possibilities on all circuits.

Changes are not happening, so let’s not panic and overreact. Changes were considered and then dropped. It’s a total nothing story.

Gasly and Hartley confirmed for 2018.

Can someone please elaborate why Hartley is a full time F1 driver?

Well they burnt so many bridges with their young driver program they had to beg and he was the only one to take the bait.

Because he placed his signature on a document contracting him to drive a Formula 1 car on a full-time basis.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Can you elaborate on why he shouldn't be? He's acquitted himself as well as the car has allowed in his first 3 races, certainly no worse than Gasly.

Aren't there any better talents in the Red Bull academy?

I don't understand how a 28 year old fits their philosophy.

No-one else in the academy would even qualify for a Superlicense. Niko Kari is the closest and he is 10th in GP3.
