I wonder if the TV direction have something against Verstappen.
We saw a replay of every (easy) overtake during this and previous race, except we didn't see a replay of Verstappen passing Hamilton for the lead in Malaysia and today passing Vettel. Especially the previous race was very strange to not show a replay or a different tv angel.

I'm pretty sure I saw several replays of Verstappen passing Hamilton last weekend on the normal world feed, I was watching ORF.

I also don't believe that Verstappen could catch Hamilton

when he was behind Massa he wasn't pushing

it's a pity, I really wanted him to play Prost 1989 on Hamilton :p

For that to work then Verstappen would have needed to be ahead of Hamilton.

no, just a side by side at the chicane would be fine

also Mercedes come up with those "problems" just to sandbag it, and then they can say "it was never easy"

I'm about 5/5 for predictions of easy Vettel wins that turn into retirements

Congrats Sebastien Vettel World champion 2017!

(Still, I do foresee an engine change/retirement for Hamilton before the end of the season so it's not quite over yet. As much as my quoting point is saying "they don't hand out race wins on Saturdays", they also don't hand out world titles in October.....erm, any more ;) )

I've never seen a team throw away a championship with the fastest car (or at least the most consistent)
Vettel should be easily winning these races, probably in the pits after Lewis uses the 1 lap thing to take pole, but yeah
Or they can take solace in actually being IN the title fight and not just having hype for pre-season testing every year then falling apart by Melbourne, as was tradition before 2017

Didn't McLaren manage this in 2000? I'm pretty sure Ferrari didn't have the outright faster car, at least not all year.

Mclaren was a bit better in 2007, but you know what happened back then

Williams should have taken the drivers' title in 1986.

Ferrari could've made 2000 already in 1999 and haven't done it because of Schumacher broken leg

Ferrari didn't have the fastest car in 1999 though; that was definitely McLaren

We'll never know but Schumacher would have given them a serious fight if it wasnt for his broken leg.

It's not the fastest car. At this point, its not even consistent. They've done a terrible job at updating and ever since the break they've been battered by Merc.

I'd argue they've battered themselves...

well Mika was doing a great effort to lose the 1999 championship, but recovered on time

I do sometimes wonder if that crash didn't result in the breaking of Ferrari's morale. The mechanical issues started since then.

Kimi would've pissed Malaysia had he not broken down and Vettel would've won in Japan (probably by waiting to the pitstops to pass Lewis) had he not has his issues. And yeah, probably the rain scuppered a dominant Ferrari win in Singapore but it would've been nice to see if that car had any wet pace before Vettel swerved them both out.

In all likelihood, those races would've been a Ferrari-Red Bull scrap with Mercedes having its confusing issues and scraping 5th/6th
Mercedes now are heading back towards tracks with long straights which favour it, at least for the next 2 races, though they did say before they headed to asia those tracks would not suit them well and they expected Ferrari to be on top of them due to the higher downforce they require.

Ferrari will not win anymore in 2017.

Neither will they in 2018.

A Redbull with Merc engines would thrash everyone. Thank God it'll never happen.
