I'm kinda surprised they're running the utes so high-sprung and soft-wheeled. Looks like Clio cup has a new rival in the weekly rollover highlights.

Well I guess they have to make them as entertaining as the old Utes somehow. I mean, their races prior to the entry numbers going to shit were always demolition derbies anyway.

Yep, he was up there with the leaders, though Dumbrell did run away with it a bit. I didn't expect much less to be honest.

Although he and Anton de Pasquale have both got two-place grid penalties:

I can't actually watch the races this weekend but judging by the series twitter it seems that McLaughlin and SVG have collided and Shane spun, with Whincup getting big damage in the process.

Also the same two kiwis were bumping on the restart. It all sounds messy. Coulthard leads now as Scott got a 15 sec penalty.

Whincup once again showing he's the luckiest driver on the grid

I guess the damage wasn't that bad because he got 3rd behind Fabs (who won) and Chas.

Also there were more tire failures apparently.

Holy ground clearance batman. It definitely sets them apart from the Supercars now but I wouldn't mind them being around half as high atleast. But ya, almost no semblance to the outgoing Utes. So much more butch.

McLaughlin got an eighteen second penalty for hitting Gis yesterday. Gis got a 33 second penalty for an SC restart violation.

Five cars tangled at the start of the F4 race. Four of them from one team.

How are folks watching this series these days? I can't get the Aussie VLC stream to work any more.

This is wildly off-topic, but I have to ask: have Supercars ever raced on an oval before?

No. I think Rick Kelly drove around the Thunderdome in one of the Altima V8s a few years back as a stunt though.

There were however races run to Bathurst regs that used parts of both the oval at Adelaide International and Calder Park though.

Incidentally Richie Stanaway won the forth Super2 race of the weekend while Whincup broke the all time win record for the main series.

Nissan Australia's boss has left, and considering he has been the "driving force" behind their motorsport program here that could put some doubt on its future if the new CEO is less keen on racing:http://www.speedcafe.com/2017/08/31/nissan-aus-boss-departs-supercars-future-question/

In better news, the leg protection devices which have been trialled for the last year or so will be mandatory for all cars in the main series from Sandown onwards:
http://www.speedcafe.com/2017/08/31/supercars-teams-set-meet-leg-protection-deadline/

Erebus has decided that they will definitely be running the new Commodore bodywork (it will be with the V8 initially, like the T888 HRT):
http://www.supercars.com/news/championship/erebus-commits-to-new-commodore/?sf109927257=1

There was talk of a GRM expansion but apparently that's most likely not happening. I suspect Moffat will be losing his drive to Golding at the end of the year:

Has the theory that GRM is courting Kia to run the Stinger still got legs, or is it dead?

Kia has said they would allow some to race but that they wouldn't pay for the development.
