I think the last time I was actually excited for the Brickyard 400, it was still run on Saturday.

I commend them with trying to get a package together that improves the racing....but they just don't seem to be smart enough to pull it off. They dirty the cars up aero wise to try and punch a bigger hole in the air to induce some sling shot type passes, but then they throw plates on them to kill the HP needed for said passes.

The NASCAR R&D have shit for brains. They've been proving it since the COT. Not a single technical regulation related initiative by them regards to improving the racing has ever worked.

Its the throttle response being removed that's the bigger issue

Why not high drag, low downforce for once?

I can only assume that they're scared of the cars going into the corners at 210mph, as the flat corners would lead to one hell of an impact if somebody had a brake failure.

That would surely be the best solution for a good race at Indy. 200+ mph down the straights, and then braking to around 130 in the corners, with enough power for the cars to be on the edge when they accelerate off the corners.

I can only see the super high downforce package working if the cars are easily flat out all the way around, and we get pack racing. Didn't they try that at Michigan one year? It didn't work because the following cars couldn't run flat out, due to the dirty air.

Loving NBC's optimism of cueing up the rear bumper cams hoping to see the car behind slipstream and pass us

Good luck with that :p

Why can't they understand that when all the cars run the same RPM's around the track, that passing is damn near impossible. Jesus

Competition caution because even NASCAR had no faith this would work and want to find ways to bring the pack back together.
