Or in other words, whatever the FIA likes (or needs) it to be. Reaction of 201 ms after the lights went off? Laugh.

That "reaction time" was from the track sensor, while the car movement was from the car data, which was -3ms but the tolerance is 10ms, so Valtteri was "only" -6ms away from making it really perfect within the rules (-9ms would be the perfection). Had FIA got drag racing measuring instruments, that start would have been illegal. Then again in drag racing the drivers practice starting by "jumping" it, counting on the lag in clutching and tire warping.

All in all, it's about making it perfect within the rules. Jacky Ickx protest on running to the cars start on Le Mans changed those rules after he won the race from last position because of taking his time after the starting gun, rather than running, starting his car and putting his seatbelts on during the Mulsanne straight like the others used to do.

So what Hamilton should do tomorrow is to take a shitty start and then winning to get the F1 rules changed.

I've seen a few sites running with that story in the last couple of hours. Nothing on the more reliable sites, though.

He's a Ferrari academy driver isn't it?, so I'd assume it'd be more likely Gasly

That would be great. Palmer shouldn't have gotten a second season anyway, Sainz 'happy' as he's rid the RB contract. Whatever game Sainz & Co played, kinda worked i guess. But 8 milion euro seems cheap for Sainz. Now the choice for Kvyat seems even weirder. Curious who would fill the seat.

I've been searching for a list of RB junior drivers. They're applauded by the succesfull drivers the program has brought forward, which is true, but if you look at the wikipedia list of drivers, well, it's a long list of what?who? why? drivers, like, Mathias Lauda, for example. And Narain Karthikeyan.

I still don't understand how Antonio Felix da Costa never got a shot at STR, he was mega mega in FR3.5 in 2012.

While this is most likely false why not just opt for kubica? Even if he does worse he makes up for it in hype and media attention

Kubica isn't going to be eligible for a superlicence?

If the FIA (and possibly the teams) agree unanimously, he can have one after completing 300km testing in a car from the last three years. I guess if they are serious they can put him into the test at the Hungaroring, but obviously this doesn't allow him to compete beforehand.

If they really want him in the car this season, I think that test is going to be the obvious sign for Jolyon to update his CV.

Kubica is not allowed to test at the Hungaroring due to the young driver rules :o

Oh, I didn't know this. Seems like it would be hard for them to get him in before next season, then.

No, Cyril Abiteboul was interviewed by Canal+ during the British GP week-end, and he was categorical that for Hungary, Palmer is in the car. He confirmed interest in Sainz, but nothing will happen for Hungary for sure.

Then again, it's just the team manager talking, but against Bild... I'll go with this.

Abiteboul was interviewed by Will Buxton on the grid, was asked the same question and gave the same answer. But what else is he likely to say? He's never going to say "Yes this is Jolyon's last race, Sainz will be in that car from Hungary onward."
