That's kinda refreshing. I was expecting a dq or a one race ban. Anyway, let's move on to Zeltweg, eh, Osterreichring, eh, A1 ring, euh Red Bull Ring. It's not even a ring.

I was hoping for a DQ and for Rosberg's continued refusal of full pints of beer to pay off for him to be drafted, fully sober, into the Ferrari for a race or two.

Plus with no championship implications he'd be free to ham-fistedly run into Lewis or shove him off the road as much as he wants to

Or gift him a race if they've become best buddy-pals again, who knows.

Seriously though, it's better when the FIA err on the side of not penalising.
Except for Adelaide 1994, fuck those guys.

Yes! Bring back the London C̶h̶a̶m̶p̶ ̶C̶a̶r̶ F1 Trophy :metal:

I love this idea. After a few laps it will look like a Nascar short-track race with cars all over the place.

Has a modern F1 car ever been through Paddock Hill bend in racing conditions? I feel that with today's cars it would be terrifying. Or the last sweeper? They'd exit that at 300kph. The more I think about it the more I like it.

Last time I saw a modern day F1 car (at the time) going through Paddock full chat was Johnny Herbert doing a demo run in the '93 Lotus and I distinctly remember him saying "fuck me that was nuts" as he got out the car in the pitlane after

It was an Indy circuit demo and he was doing 30 second laps and pulling 170+ at the braking point for Paddock.

Why were people expecting a DQ? (trolling much)

Vettel did something stupid, got penalised for it. Hamilton fan boys need to be mad at Mercedes for losing him the win. Vettel didn't affect anything and got penalised for what he did.

Good to see the FIA with common sense.

Yup, agree here. The problem probably wasn't Vettel's actual hit on Lewis, rather his attitude and avoidance of acknowledging his actions in the aftermath and post race.

I like Vettel but his reaction was pretty bad. Sounded like a spoilt, petulant child.

With most of the drivers we have nowadays, they should just rename Formula One to Formula Whine.

While I do despise the whole "Oh my God I may have offended some socio economically challenged Bhutanese transgendered Aid worker for stating that I have equal proportions of flavours when I eat Neapolitan ice cream", Vettel did come across as massive dick after the race.

In every interview I saw he didn't even acknowledge that he took a swipe at Hamilton, he seemed to think people were up in arms at him for running into the back of him. If he at least acknowledged that it was a remonstration gone wrong, but....then he wouldn't have come across as such a dick and I wouldn't be commenting on it a week after the fact.

every testing they provide to Kubica is a short notice for Palmer

Every time Palmer gets into an F1 car is a short notice for Palmer

I'm pretty sure Kubica can drive better than Palmer using only one hand even.

That paper about Vettel is ridiculous. Apologies to the wider family of motorsports? Community service? Fuck right off, he got the penalty he deserved, move on and stop making it sound like an international diplomatic incident. It's not DeCesaris constant levels of retardation we're talking about here.

Leave it to the FIA and F1 to turn every incident into a cringe-fest. It was worse to read than watching a Toto Wolff interview after any Mercedes incident.

If Paul Tracy had raced in F1, he'd be serving 3 life sentences by now.

At least Montoya admitted to it like a man, Vettel is a bit of a pussy tbh.

Let's hope Lewis launches him into the wall in turn 1 of one of the next races.

Knowing Lewis's knack with this kind of thing, he'll either manage to tip himself around Vettel or pull it off perfectly and then incriminate himself in the podium interview.

I didn't see anything on here about Lance Stroll's private test, but this part of this article certainly grabbed my attention.

Quote:
Stroll's improvement in form has been aided by a private tests conducted at Austin's Circuit of the America's, something which the Canadian admitted helped him settle on a more desirable set-up for the race in Baku. Lowe hopes he can use his positive momentum to continue his rich vein of form.

How in fuck's name does that not constitute in season testing? Yes, yes I know he was running a car a couple of years old, not relevant etc, but if they are trying out different spring/suspension engine mapping modes etc that "helped him settle on a more desirable set-up for the race" that is THE very definition of testing.

http://www.espn.co.uk/f1/story/_/id/198 ... ight-stuff

I think Williams have found a pretty big loop hole in the rules and are using it to great effect.
