I think we all need to accept there is no going back to what NASCAR used to be. Even if you restore the old points system, make the cars racier and less aero dependent and put Atlanta (which is now just a Charlotte clone) back, we're still not going to see the same kind of personalities we used to or have the same class of commentators. It is what it is now, might as well be thankful it was good for a while and move on to some other series that is still somewhere near its prime.

On the other hand...

The lack of driver personalities and the way it's presented on TV are two of its biggest weaknesses at the moment. As well as a governing body that its hard for fans to be confident in.

But I think NASCAR could move forward and be reflective of the past, without replicating it.

I don't think Atlanta is much better than Homestead for the final race.

I would rather put Homestead on July 4 and put Daytona night as the finale. But i'm sure many would be horrified by that.

Then turn that planned repavement back to the classic Bristol into a new track, designed to be the final one.
