Zanardi is back to Rio, trying to win something bigger that he failed to achieve there 18 years ago

I always loved the Tamiami Park circuit, used in the 1980s. It's a shame they don't race there.

Looking at it on streetview and google earth, it wouldn't take much to upgrade the facilities to host a modern Indy Car race.

Here's a turn from a part of the track:

Okay if I lived there I'd ride the crap out of that curb every time I drive by that section

There's quite a few turns with kerbs still. I would do the same...it's probably why they put a lot of speed bumps throughout the park. :yuk:

Tamiami Park wasn't that great a track, just another one of those really hard to pass tracks with good scenery

It may have been hard to pass on but it's really fun to drive. :)

I made a basic version of this track for the old MS-DOS game Indycar Racing 2 :-)

The hour-long special ESPN aired on Nigel Mansell's rookie season.

First Reynard and now Lola *sigh*

If things like this keep happening then eventually maybe I can consider the possibility CART will never return. :whistling:

This was my all time favourite livery on the Lola, even though it didn't do very much or last very long

And of course, I'll always have a soft spot for this look, for obvious reasons

RIP Lola. And Justin.

Lola is gone? Man...

I always liked the look of the difficult and slow 1997 Lola

I guess 1997 was a shitty year for them on either side of the Atlantic...

Divided resources much?

Lola went bust in 2012 and with the new LMP2 cars coming in next year, there won't be any around in WEC/ELMS (not that there are any this year) or IMSA. The only remaining one was the Mazda Prototype (which is a Lola B12/80 chassis).

5 years since he's gone, Bryan Herta sums up in a few words why he was able to do things like that at Indy

RIP Dan, we really miss you

Even watching that now i still cant believe that happened. I would have loved to see dan race the new car. What stings a bit more about this all is, that while we still mourn his passing, he isnt the most recent death in the series. Ok anyway, back to that clip of the 500 to get a smile back on my face :)
