Awesome! so happy to see Hinch get the pole after everything he has gone through over the last year. Also awesome to see Schmidt & Carpenter both beat the big teams for the top 2 spots

1) Screw ABC/ESPN... I wish wish wish NBC could've bought the rights to Indy.

2) Hunter-Reay and Hinch left it all on the track. Those cars were right on the edge. Josef looked like he was on a Sunday drive.

At-a-boy to Aleshin. He's got guts hanging onto a car that close to the edge and not backing down.

Michael and Marco Andretti tries to knock out Bryan Herta; Herta seems happy about it.

On TV I didn't seem to notice Hinch being particularly on edge, were you at the track in person or am I just missing things? (no wobble or steering wheel corrections or the like)

Actually, I have no idea how they even 'feel' the edge at those speeds. To the casual I am it looks like there's a clear limit where either you're in, or you're out and any recovery beyond that point is about 90% luck. :8:

I guess being on edge at Indy means staying like .5 inch from the wall at the exit of turn 4

Basically this is right. If you've got the rear hanging out, you're slow. If you're pushing so hard you have to lift on exit, you're slow.

When you're right out within a half inch to the wall on corner exit and you're not taking your foot out of it, that's the edge on a qualifying run.

If the race is like this practice session, we're going to be in for something special on Sunday.
