From just what I read around the web, Roush's main problems were that he was way too adamant about not adopting technology or methods that most other teams were and that set them back too far too many times and his sponsorship model where he basically wanted a huge sum or nothing at all, which is why you see Roush cars often running entire seasons with just 'Ford' painted on them, esp in NXS.

The first part is nothing new as he lost a chance to have Gordon in 94 because he was adamant about not bringing on Evernham like Bickford wanted so Jeff went to Hendrick.

Roush has nothing for the future compared to Hendrick, JGR and Penske. Bayne and Stenhouse are not in the same league as Elliott, Jones and Blaney.

Buescher is ok, but not stellar. Who else is on the Rough development program?

I think they have Kyle Weatherman and Kyle Benjamin, who they signed a couple of years back.

Why has Kligerman dropped off the scene? People gave up on him way too quickly.

Is his NBC job temporary or has he given up driving to stay in the media?

Cos he's a prick.

*full disclosure, he was a prick on iRacing, so if he treats people in real life the way he did there, then it's no surprise nobody wants anything to do with him, he probably spent a lot of time blaming his equipment and word of that tends to get around quickly.

He's from CT and his family would come into the wine store I used to work at... If he's like his family, I can see where people would consider him a prick.

Always thought Parker would make it big, killed his career jumping to Swan Racing. I guess driving for KBM made him a tool.

I think Kligs problem is that he's too smart for his own good. He never seemed like the type of person that could be a company man like the rest of the young drivers. I would go as far as saying he would make a great manager of something.

James Hinchcliffe could be racing in one of the NASCAR XFINITY Series road course races next season with IndyCar having a 3 week break in August.

He was a tool before he joined KBM.

I remember Jeff Gordon making it clear during his original announcement that he was not retiring from driving altogether (just no longer running regularly). However, I haven't heard or read a single word about any events he would potentially show up for. Anyone else?

only NASCAR top 3 race I can see is if Stewart can convince him to run the Eldora Truck race, with the way it's sounding like. I don't think he will run any Cup or Xfinity races. I wouldn't be shocked if he ran Goodwood FOS one of these years though too.

I think it would be cool to see Jeff run some truck races on short tracks or road courses.

I'm sure JAFF will make it to 800 starts.

I kinda doubt it. He's completely right about one-off races putting a strain on team resources, and not to mention how difficult it is to get up to speed after not being in a car for a while. Montoya at the Brickyard last year in the 12 car is a prime example - Penske was at the top of their game at the time, but I don't think JPM even cracked the top 20 all day.

I'd be cool with maybe a start at Eldora, but I sincerely doubt he'll ever be behind the wheel of a Cup or Xfinity car again.

Well then...

http://www.autoblog.com/2015/11/23/jeff ... re-racing/

I still think he's done. He might get an itch eventually, but I would sincerely hope he didn't come back only to run 20th to 30th, whatever series that might be.

It's Jeff Gordon, they're going to give him the best equipment possible with his lifetime contract at Hendrick's. You don't think Rick would drop a bit of his own scratch to give Jeff a top ride for one race? You're right it's doubtful, but if it ever does happen, don't think Jeff won't be prepared (testing again and such) or not get top shelf equipment.

He has pinpointed testing specifically as one of the things he can't wait to NOT have to do... the rest of what you said is true though.

I'd like to see Jeff run the truck race at Eldora at least once.
