I don't know how a grand prix driver can be 2 tenths slower on his own will. he can be 1,5 seconds but not by a small gap

You can win those final 0.2s if you are relaxed and confident, but apart from that the above smells of fanboyism :p

Kimi based fanboyism on TBK? Nah, never! That doesn't exist!

Kimi is a waste of space. Could understand the resigning if he agreed to a massive pay cut.

What? No! He's called the Iceman, but like any other human being he can get distracted by stress factors. See his performance at Lotus, nothing to lose - good results. Now he's been under pressure from every direction and made few mistakes. That's different than being a slacker just to get extended contract.

If he cannot perform under pressure, he should have been dropped. Sorry Evanstar.

Rumors of the day, in the Lotus/Charles Pic problem:
Pic asking 800.000€ to Lotus for the sessions he didn't run, as Lotus can't pay, the rumor is that Pic would replace Grosjean for a few races at the end of the year.

It's probably bullshits, but well, in a team with Gerard Lopez and Maldonado (who strictly refuses to share his car), everything is possible.

It also looks like the equipment has been parked on the outside of La Source. And why would FOM seize the equipment?

Don't you know Kals, FOM own everything and anything that has to do with F1. The dream I had about me being an F1 champ? Oh that's the property of Bernie. I think I owe him some royalty cheque's.

They did share another pic around 6h ago, showing them still parked. This has also surfaced on Facebook:

Doesn't look great. Could they owe FOM for shipping fees or something stupid like that?

Lotus owe something to just about everyone, so it wouldn't surprise me.

Unless Pic has got some sort of court order, but that would have been published by now.

Lopez must be laughing in the corner. I don't know how much he and/or his genii capital has spent, but his worthless shares just became the jackpot.

Too bad, a laughing stock for comic relief has gone. Perhaps two, if Maldonado isn't retained.

Next year I'm planning a holiday in Australia including the GP. What is the best spectator area/option? 4-corner option or general admission or something else?

Go for the 4 corner package, it costs a bit, but its worth it. I would suggest picking one that has you on the outside of Turn 1 or 9 for the race. You can also access all the GA areas too, but the viewing isn't great in many areas.

what a waste of a decent track

Quote:
Istanbul Park, which hosted seven rounds of the Formula One World Championship between 2005 and 2011, and described by Bernie Ecclestone as "the best race track in the world" is to be used as a car dealership.
Popular with drivers and TV viewers also, the track, which had a 155,000 capacity and was built at a cost of almost $300m, featured a number of corners similar to those found at other challenging circuits including Monza's Parabolica, Spa's Eau Rouge and even Laguna Seca's 'Corkscrew'.
Hermann Tilke said he designed the track to try to catch the drivers out, and over the years even the best were indeed caught out by its challenging nature.
However, the failure to put bums on seats, particularly in the case of locals, meant the circuit struggled, and despite hosting other series including MotoGP, DTM and World Touring Cars, the circuit slipped from the (F1) calendar in 2012 and has been pretty much out of use ever since.
Now, the facility has been leased by car rental company Intercity for 10 years, and on 9 September, the Istanbul Park Auto Market (IPOP) opens for business, a free shuttle service providing transport from various parts of the city.
"The main idea of this project is a car dealership, but one that is customer-oriented and with sound infrastructure," said IPOP Sales and Marketing Director Cevat Kabatas, according to Today's Zaman. "This is the first and most important difference that separates us from other car dealerships.
"To customers in the market for a vehicle, we present a variety of amenities. There will be auto experts, notary services, banks, tire and accessory sales, a car wash and detailed cleaning, light auto care facilities and insurance companies present at the dealership,"
All quite sad to be honest, yet indicative of the short-sighted nature of those so keen to fall for Bernie Ecclestone's sale's pitch and pump hundreds of millions into facilities before seriously considering whether the fans will come in sufficient numbers for the event to pay its way.
While most of the new additions are style over substance, Istanbul Park was a good track and surely deserved a better end. With most of Pirelli's tyres manufactured in Turkey, couldn't the track have been put to use for testing, especially with that wide variety of corners.
It was never F1 paradise, but it deserves more than becoming a used car lot.
