Anyone following this series? I'm involved with one of the teams (Malta Formula Racing) and one of their drivers, Keith Camilleri, is a very good friend of mine. Quite a big leap to go from Hillclimbs in a Radical to circuit racing but he didn't do a bad job at Adria.

Cars are built by Tatuus, and powered by a Fiat Abarth 1.4 Turbo producing 160bhp. Pretty neat race cars if you ask me. This is the first FIA F4 championship in the world, with most countries scheduled to start their FIA F4 series next year.

There's also some great talent involved, with Prema running Frenchman Brandon Maisano and Canadian Lance Stroll - both Ferrari Academy drivers. 1st weekend was pretty awesome with 22 entries. Seems like Gerhard Berger's idea of creating this Formula 4 championship wasn't so bad after all.

Races are also available on demand

Next race is in Imola - same weekend as the AutoGP race which should be super fun.

Here's Keith, in action :)

I received this press release from Fiat today :)
Quote:

24/04/2015
The F4 ADAC Abarth Championship kicks off in Germany

At Oschersleben, 42 young drivers on single-seaters powered by Abarth. Among them and following in their fathers' footsteps are Mick Schumacher, Jonathan Ceccotto and Harrison Newey.
Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel is the sponsor of the German 2015 Championship which includes eight three-race events. The championship will kick off at Oschersleben with one race on Saturday 25 and two on Sunday 26 April.

The long-awaited ADAC Formula 4 Powered by Abarth Championship will be starting this weekend at Oschersleben. The promotional formula fostered by FIA is the opportunity for very young drivers aged from 15 to 18 to be promoted from kart racing to competitions behind the wheel of a real single-seater.

In the wake of the success of the Italian F4 Powered by Abarth Championship last year, the German motorsport federation ADAC picked the same Tatuus car fitting 160 hp Abarth T-Jet engines.

The ADAC Formula 4 Powered by Abarth Championship has generated great enthusiasm: no fewer than 42 young drivers on 18 teams will be starting the race. Some names stand out, like Mick Schumacher, son of Ferrari world champion Michael, Jonathan Ceccotto, son of motorcycle and car racing legend Johnny, and Harrison Newey, son of the famous Formula 1 engineer Adrian.

The series is sponsored by Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel, who started his racing career and was given the opportunity to showcase his talent in ADAC promotional formulas. In particular, he won the 2004 championship title scoring 18 of the 20 total races.

The first edition of the ADAC F4 Championship in Germany will see a total of eight events starting on 25 April on the Oschersleben racing track and will end on 4 October in Hockenheim.

The programme of the first weekend event features warm-up and qualifiers today (Friday 24 April) over two sessions, while the first race is slated for tomorrow (Saturday 25 April) at noon and the other two will start on Sunday at 9:35 a.m. and 3:20 p.m. Live streaming at http://www.adac-motorsport.de/adac-formel-4/de.

We should have a "Openwheel random discussion thread" for all the various series which can't fit into existing threads...

...anyways the German F4 race 1 starts in about 5 minutes and will be streamed here:
http://www.adac-motorsport.de/livestream-adac-formel-4.html

Should be fun with nearly 40 cars with mainly rookie drivers :flag:

Amazingly only 2 crashers at that ridiculous chicane.

That was impressively well done for that many cars.

Yes, he's Adrian's son.

Another SC, presumably for the plank beached at turn 2.

And another!

This time it's the team-mate of the guy who brought out the second SC.
