In the article it mentions marketing & brand awareness to consumers. They could even just purchase the naming rights for some of the GPs. I know Australia & Spa often struggle to attract a naming rights sponsor up until the last minute.... Maybe the could talk to the FIA about renaming the podium to the Renault-dium? It's catchy ey?

I mean they are making everything uniform with the rules, so why not take away a bit more freedom from them.

Does the FIA think fans of F1 are as thick as two short planks? If there were 40 entries I'd understand the need. But we can all count to 16 (which is the number of F1 cars we'll likely see in 2015 to 2016).

Or at least they have a plan that we don't know about. If they really wanted to prevent this small grid Caterham and Marussia would still be around. Hence, even HRT would probably be around and Sauber, Lotus and Force India wouldn't be in trouble.

Only thing I can think of is so Bernie could buy back F1 from CVC on the cheap.

So there going to be in an under developed car (Once there 2015 car is ready) running engines that are about 50bhp down on the 2015 units. I can see them failing to get within 107% a lot of the time. Perhaps they should look at ditching the 107% rule for at least 2015 to help Manor get back on there feet because no investor is going to stick around if there car is struggling to make the race.
