I thought Saavedra has alienated himself from KV? Sage Karam has been linked to a 4th CGR car. CFH will deffo run a 2nd car, with Carpenter highly likely on the ovals.

I've not kept up to date on the rumours and others news for 2015 drivers, so there's some guesswork with the potentials. What did Saavedra do to alienate himself?

Some argument with his engineer at Sonoma. Apparently he lacks chemistry with the team and his work ethic is questionable, if you believe what Racer had to say on the subject.

Bourdais and Aleshin are rumoured to be possible WEC entrants (Bourdais at Nissan and Aleshin with SMP in LMP2), while Conway could be promoted to a full time works driver at Toyota, now that Lapierre's officially out. They could still run partial WEC schedules with a full-time Indycar season.

Reading that damn near brought a tear to my eye... I miss Greg... But so thankful I was able to see all of his Indycar races. Probably the reason I'm still a fan today. I really had someone to root for and it got me into Indycar racing. The things he could've done with that Penske-Reynard-Honda.

I didn't follow racing enough when he died, but I appreciate his results a lot more now.

To give an idea what he may have done, Gil de Ferran won the next 2 titles for Penske.

Chances are he'd have gotten an F1 chance. Perhaps in place of Da Matta.

There was a rumour that McLaren were looking at him for 2002.

There have actually been two rumors linking Greg to McLaren. In 1997, he was rumored to be replacing Hakkinen. Then in 1999, he was rumored to be replacing Coulthard.

July 21, 1997 - Moore for McLaren?

Greg was a pure racer. Don't see many of those these days in Indycar or F1.

I think Frank Williams was also interested in him for a test driver role, but he was contracted to CART

Thing is, he almost didn't start the race due to injury. He'd missed quali and had been moving up through the field at the time.

Worst thing was they kept replaying the crash and it looked worse every time they did so, so glad they don't do that any more.
