This is probably one of the worst Dover wrecks I've seen

Possible sunday preview. 1 hr 10 mins 28 seconds.. Jr and Kenseth 1-2 in points 1-2 in the race and SLAM!

Or skip ahead to 1 hr 46 mins 40 seconds to see Adam Petty go from 2nd to the stretcher with 20 to go!

Dover did have some mighty fine races in its day.

One of my faves also from 1994, Bobby Dotter at the 1:35 mark.

Looking at all the angles they caught of this wreck, kinda sad that today even the Sprint races don't have this quality of coverage.

Interesting to see that all the good Dover moments happened before the COT :whistling:

Dover is such a hard track to make huge movements through the field. The straights are too short and the corners too long with too tight exits. Its really hard to cross a driver over. Look at the 2011 Spring race, I think its the first race I ever watched where the track position issues started to really become critical.

Dover was also home to one of my favorite KRYLE interviews.

Regarding that Blaney crash.. I remember in the race thread that someone commented how funny and how "nascar" it was to put Blaney's number upside down anticipating he flip. He thought it was an upside down #20. I cannot un-see it now. He ruined the 07 for me.

Surprised nobody mentioned Dale Jr's twitter pic about light pole bases and Dover going under the lights.

Saw a tweet from Gluck I think where the Dover pres. said they are NOT installing lights.

Damn, can't find it. Not sure who it was. Maybe I imagined it. Of course, they could be denying it now because they want to reveal it in a grand announcement at some point down the road.

The track president was on The Morning Drive this morning and said it's a new catchfence going in. Not light poles.

There were also some blurbs about Dover considering the removal of some of the grandstands. I used to sit in turn 3 at Dover but they don't even sell those any more. They are covered with giant sponsor banners.

^^^ Same as where I once sat at Loudon. Sad state of affairs... I don't think it's the quality of racing (even though people love to complain about it) or ticket prices that are the problem, but the cost of travel. Hotels and gas prices are insane. That's a whole other discussion, however.

Oh, and this is another one of my favorite recent moments at Dover. Also quite lol-worthy.

I was surprised when I went to Joliet and the two "wings" leading into turn 1 and coming off turn 4 were both removed.

I was pleasantly surprised by the number of people at NHMS last weekend. By no means a sell out, but there were fans in every section of the grandstands, including the turns.

The one thing that struck me though, compared to the last time I went to a race, was the reduction of the merch trailers. Many teams didn't have one. One of the trailers was like a mega combo trailer with 9/47/78/15/55/43 merch all in one. Jr still had 3 tho.

I was very impressed with the crowd when I went to the 1st NH race this year. I've sat in turn 3/4 before and it was completely empty in 2010. Definitely a lot more this time around. The merchandise trailers were a disappointment but the camping looked awesome. I definitely want to do that!

As far as Dover, I went to 1 if not both races every year from 94-1999. I went once in 2003 and I haven't been there since 2005 so I don't know how it is now.

I'm tellin' you man - us Maritimers (AKA Eastern Canadians) make up about 35% of the crowd every time the series goes to Loudon. It's wild to see just how many people from this neck of the woods go to the two races there. It's the closest track to (arguably) the most "redneck" part of Canada. haha
