What I find odd, is that only Lee Spencer/Motorsport.com has announced anything about this. You'd think the NASCAR media people would be jumping all over this.

Yeah, they didn't need to reduce power.

Interesting thing here:
"Optional rain tires, mandatory wipers, defogger and rear flashing rain light at start of event (practice, qualifying and race)"

Cup running in the rain in the future?

It looks like it's possible for road courses.

Six inch spoiler is still way too big. Especially with the cut in horsepower. The fucking radiator pan is still there too. Who the fuck are they kidding with this "collaboration" and "feedback from teams" bullshit?

2013 rear spoiler: 7 1/4"
2014 rear spoiler: 8"

So at least it's a step in the right direction, but I agree, the cut in horsepower makes 0 sense, imo it will offset the rear spoiler reduction.

I'm surprised they are dumping preseason testing at Daytona.

Lol, they ignored everything the drivers wanted and everything the lower downforce test proved. I'm done with this bollocks. Plate races, short tracks and road courses are all I'll bother to stay up for.

Sounds like the radiator pan is smaller? So that's good at least.

I guess they figured that the majority of the cup drivers would be more comfortable with the Nationwide cars they drive on a weekly basis.

It sounds like the only hope is that a 6-inch spoiler will cut more downforce than we think, and that the weight reduction might allow for some softer tires. Otherwise...bad times.

no, it's okay. Just look at the race last weekend, all we need is a lot of cautions, then we get all the ZOMG 3 WIDE action we can crave for. I'm sure Nascar can get our fix for us :)

The cars are gonna weigh less, have less downforce, and less HP = SAME SHITTY FUCKING PRODUCT AT SLOWER SPEEDS.

Something something, deck chairs....something, something, Titanic.

Fuck NASCAR. They know exactly how to fix the racing and make it better, and they actively refuse to do it. Every decision they ever make is the exact opposite of what they should do. It's like they WANT to drive away the fans.

Pete Pistone said the teams signed off on this package. But let's not blame them....
