the same site has this article at the bottom

Quote:
Formula 1 Racer Decapitated After Violent Crash Flips Car

Prominent Formula 1 racer Felipe Massa was killed in a crash during the German Grand Prix yesterday when his car became inverted in a horrific crash on the first corner almost immediately after the race began. He was killed instantly during the crash, the extremely poor design of the stock car causing his decapitation

No I didn't know that was one of those stupid wind up sites, sorry.

Well I do now since I just saw the Massa story on there too.

Edit, that's a disrespectful thing to post too considering the circumstances, the article reads as genuine and I know I'm not the only person to fall for it, I don't think I'll ever understand why people find these sites amusing.

So how much of this decision to sit out again come from Stewart's lawyers and not Stewart himself?

Obviously, they won't want him going out to Michigan and saying something that'll be used against him in the inevitable court case.

Probably his lawyers, unless there is some kind of ironic truth to that joke article, I've never killed another human but I know someone who has in an accident and they quiet literally never got over it, those events are life changing for everybody (excuse the pun).

Won't happen. It just won't. NASCAR is your big example, they actially promote stupidity and aggressive behavior because of the entertainment. It won't suddenly stop.

How do they promote stupidity?

NASCAR wanted the drivers to police themselves, which i believe is a good thing. the problem is that the policing should take place off of the track "man to man" (or woman), but definitely not on the track with 3500lb hunks of rolling metal. NASCAR has unfortunately got it backwards so far.

but i dont see how this incident is in anyway NASCAR's fault. in my opinion it was initially just a racing deal. after that, kevin ward shouldnt have walked out into traffic and tony steward shouldnt have been driving like an ass. they both share the blame, and tony should step away from motorsport for a couple years "in good taste." perhaps get some counseling.

That "fake" article could be an omen, I just don't see how Tony can come back...so many people sadly will only know him for this incident, whether he's deemed at fault or no. Plus Tony will probably relive those few seconds over and over the rest of his life....I for one would love to see Tony come back from this and preform to the fullest, I just don't realistically think it will happen. :(

I don't see him back this season at the very least.

As those have said before, as a key part of an investigation that may result in a civil trial later on, his lawyers must be nervous at having him near any kind of broadcast lest it prejudice a later court case.

Maybe once this is all wrapped up he'll be back, say 2015 at the very earliest.

If he's coming back at all. He has to live with the idea of running over the kid. Even if there won't be a civil trial. And he's being ripped apart on social media. God knows what happens once he gets back into a car. How will the fans react to that.

In good ole American style, Tony is now the victim of the same mechanism that helped to build his celebrity. Nothing we (I speak in the general American sense and not for myself indivually) like more than to build someone up to see them fall.

This was an accident. Pure and simple. I said harsh words before, as I do not like Stewart, but this was an accident. For us fans to be robbed of the greatness that is Tony in a race car because of our at times asinine mass media/court system is a tragedy in and of itself.

Same thing happens here, media build them up then knock them down for a story to sell more. It's an utter disgrace.

If he doesn't race until next year, he'll have made the same number of starts this season as last season

You're like the Bill Webber of TBK. "Now you don't have to look it up, cause I already have."
