Thanks everyone for sharing some great, lesser known stories from a unique and spectacular career - there won't be another quite like Sir Jack, and may he rest in peace.

hah, I was there in 1998 when he raced at the Nordschleife. Didn't realise until after the race that it was 3-time world champion Jack Brabham who was racing there, not just some guy with the name Brabham. I was only 13 and didn't understand any German.

“The last time I was at the Nurburgring was in 1970 with Formula 1,” Sir Jack recalled post race, “since then, has not much has changed but this gave me the chance to enjoy the circuit for the first time in my life.”

not exactly true this, he raced in the 24h in 1980.

Not that I give him less credit or so, just wrong facts

Indy is where it's at.

First day then night, because day starts before night.
If it was the other way then it would be the other way.

Perhaps Bernie will step in and help broker a deal for Haas to buy the team?

I assume Lotus has at least a one year contract with PVDSA where they are obliged to pay the contractual money? So maybe not this year?

I assume PDVSA would be on the hook for whatever the contract said they would pay, but Lotus are still $100 million+ in the shit and I don't see where the next big sponsor is coming from.

Haas has said he doesn't want to buy a team. It is probably cheaper for him to start from nothing than to buy Lotus along with all the debt and then to put in the money that it needs to remain competitive.

Haas is already building his factory in Charlotte and has almost got 200 people gathered already for the project.

The factory being build next to the NASCAR compound.

Modifications done to the Monaco track for this year:

• Every year was done a tarmac resurfacing (a third part of the circuit). In 2014, it concerns the part form
the Casino Square to the entrance of the tunnel.
• A new pit wall was built. It consists of 90 steel blocks filled with concrete, each weighing 2.7 tonnes.
• A gateway was created along the pit wall in the middle of the pit lane, dedicated mainly to the persons
who must work on the starting grid.
• To ensure a better overall view, the bridge located at the «Diver» in front of the pool has been removed.
• A new foam extinguishing system was implemented along the two thirds of the tunnel.
• A sidewalk outside of the track was conducted between the new Yacht Club and the chicane.
• A safety rail, sea side, now replaces the old wall opposite the corner of the “Tobacco” Corner.
