Lol. Microsoft has a new add for the cloud. Claiming it's the difference between winning and losing. The team they sponsor and is in the same add is lotus

I'm no hater but Microsoft has a lot of catching up to do after some poor years (Windows 8, Surface, ...).

I'm not really a hater hater but I'm no fan of MS either. Although I love the X360 and work on a Win7 PC and a Win8 lappy.

I did find it funny that in their add they claim their cloud is the difference between winning and losing and they couldn't pick a much worse team atm for their add.

With MS' history and the current Lotus situation it explains a lot :D

Have to admit, I cried that day.

I was in Paris on a school trip that day, and saw that Hakkinen was in the lead when I ran into a pub for a quick oversight. I'm not a Hakkinen fan and I annoyed my friends by chanting "Hakkinen can't win" for almost an hour. Then I heard that his car broke down on the last lap and knew I had magic telekinetic powers!

I guess he never did get it to work, based on his results.
Imagine if he did, the first ever pay driver world champion with 19 wins out of 19 in 2013

Shouldve used daddy's money to fix that too, max :)

Jean Todt thinks there should be a rethink on the double points idea, after suddenly deciding that maybe he and the teams should be listening to the fans.

And the fact that those double points probably won't even be needed, since the Mercedes drivers will be so far ahead.

When was the last time we had a championship where the clear 2 fastest cars have been teammates, and have been really close to each other? I mean with a clear gap to the next best runner? Webber never really got to Vettel, Massa never got close to Raikkonen in 2007, Fisi never got close to Alonso, Barrichello never got close to Schumacher. Only scenario I can think of is Williams 1997.

Williams 1997 and 1996 I guess yeah. Other than that there's Coulthard once or twice a year, but that's it.

1996 yes, 1997 no.

Has anyone actually looked into whether implementing this system in the past would have changed anything? If we would have different champions?

I did a wee search.

Quote:
Double points for final race would have changed three World Champions in 20 years

However, despite the change representing an unprecedented step for F1, since 1991 - the first year when all a driver's results in a season counted towards the Drivers' Championship - only the 2012, 2008 and 2003 championship fights would have had different outcomes had the points for the concluding round been doubled.

The most recent of those revisions would have resulted in Fernando Alonso and not reigning quadruple World Champion Sebastian Vettel clinching the crown in 2012. The Spaniard, who went into the Brazil finale 13 points down on his Red Bull rival, would have won the title by 296 points to 289 owing to the fact his second place finish in the race would have been worth 36 points as opposed to the normal 18, while Vettel would have only collected 16 points for sixth.

F1's other dramatic title decider of recent time, when Lewis Hamilton effectively clinched the crown on the final corner of the 2008 Brazilian GP, would also have had a different outcome with Felipe Massa, the day's race winner, picking up a bumper 20 points to beat his rival by five points.

Kimi Raikkonen, meanwhile, would now theoretically be a two-times World Champion and Michael Schumacher only a six-times champion as their 2003 Japan decider would have gone the Finn's way by five points instead of the German's by two.
