It seems being an F1 Marshal is a lot more dangerous this year than in previous years....

Someone has obviously had a word in Charlie Whiting's ear about only using the Safety Car in extreme situations, so this year 2 cars in the gravel is not deemed worthy enough of a SC period despite the danger of the whole field piling into turn 1 together on lap 2 and only having it covered with waved yellows, that we all know F1 drivers see as an opportunity to close up on each other rather than respecting the safety of the marshals.
(Also a side issue, nothing to do with safety, ruining the main overtaking zone for the early laps when there's going to be the best chance of overtaking before the field had spread too much)

And I thought FOM had missed the start crash completely so to see Stef post that they actually got it on camera but didn't show it is another poor show.
I guess the backmarker teams don't pay enough to get their cars on TV.

It's especially frustrating when they waste time with 5 thousand and twelve on-board angles though.
I love a good on-board shot of the start as much as anyone, but those angles should be saved for the post race analysis, not when there's racing going on live that we're missing!

Fuckkk....average race (not shitty but not great) but I'm fuming for various reasons. Mainly the lack of sleep I guess.
Oh well, BTCC will calm me :p

Did Sutil stopped immediately after the Ricciardo pass? So yes, the penalty was real unfair for Ricciardo.

He said his reputation rests on it.

Which is pretty bold considering his reputation on stories within the driver market.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

This is rare but...I actually agree with that penalty.

For once.

He wouldn't have made the pass if he hadn't used the runoff to maintain his speed and reduce the angle of the corner.

Normally I'm in favour of more racing and less penalties, but that one wasn't right.

They really need to look at adopting PIP for replays, Replay full-screen with live action in a small box in the corner.

Should also look at using PIP to cover other things like pit stops, They did it once during the 2005 Bahrain Gp so its clearly something they are capable of doing:

so, 15 seconds up the road from Grosjean/Vettel. Could Webber have made it without the extra stop?

I dont think that he could have made it.You just have to look how slow Ricciardo was lapping around when his harder tyres where gone and the Traffic jam he caused.Or as another example Kimi in last Years Chinese GP

On Mark's in lap, Vettel closed by nearly a second - that was only going to get bigger, and in the inevitable catch, he'd have been defenseless ... and we know how much good team orders might have done, especially if Grosjean was behind and Vettel sensed losing that position.

Yeah that doesn't look fueled by a dodgy Balestre decision.

Who made that strategy call for Webber? Could have won on two stops.

Worked quite nicely for Vettel as well, still a good drive from him.

I assume Spanish TV were not happy with Massa holding up Alonso?

Initially. Later very annoyed at the favourable Vettel strategy with his championship lead, sympathising with Webber.

Am I the only one who thought Vettel was referencing a certain lipstick for men when he said Ichiban?

I didn't really enjoy that so much. I was really hoping that Webber would get a win, it would be great to see him win at least one race in the end of his career.

Everytime Red Bull is playing 'strategies', it comes down to make sure Vettel wins it. And for some strange reason Webber will lose it. Vettel is the best driver out there. I accept that. Vettel will become world champion 4th time in a row. I accept that. But just give the win to Mark goddammit.

I know many won't agree, but that's the way I felt about the race.

I don't think Red Bull are going to do a driver that is coming to the end of his contract any favours...

Maybe they know what kind of PR storm he's going to kick up the second he's out of contract with a book or interview deal or something like that...

If Mark is going to win, he's going to have to beat Vettel (unlikely) or hope for a technical failure on the other RB for a change (not likely but probably more likely than beating him in a straight fight, IE KERS failure yesterday)

Or rain.
It rains in India occasionally ....right? :?

If I were Red Bull, I wouldn't be worried about that. If he chooses to do that, then he will be digging himself a hole so deep he will need to learn Mandarin for effective communication.

Because if he were to write a book or give an interview saying how badly he was treated at Red Bull, anyone with two or more brain cells will turn around and ask 'if it was so crap at Red Bull, if life were so horrible, why did you renew your one-year rolling contract on four separate occasions, even when other teams had an interest in you?'
