A friend of mine racing a Mercedes SLS-AMG GT3 had this scary moment from the lead

Quote:
Just had my scariest ever moment in motorsport, and it's proof that it's not over til it's over.

4hrs 56mins into the 5hr race I run out of brakes and was thrown off the track into the gravel at the top of 5th gear. How I didn't go over I don't know, and the fact that I was able to restart and circulate slowly to finish 2nd is a miracle.

Which series is that? Asian GT or Super Taikyu?

This is amazing. Competed in the 1987 Rolex 24...basically the epitome of Real Racin' in GT terms.

1980's IMSA; Doesn't get much more real than that. Al Holbert doing entire 500k races alone for example.

There's nothing as interesting (from a sportscar anorak standpoint) than meandering around Racingsportscars.com looking at some of the mad stuff that used to get entered in the 80s and 90s GT classes like Buick Somersets and Oldsmobile Tornados.

Oh absolutely. OR that Dodge entered two Daytona's in the GTU class...one FWD and one RWD.

If I had my way, GT cars would go back to spoilers instead of wings...they just look way more aggressive.

A bit of Ferrari on Ferrari action lol. Ouch at both those crashes though. I hope everyone will be ok.
