Yes and clearly he doesn't remember how many people were removed between 11th and 1st last year...

I guess that was his point, anything can happen.
Also, Grosjean is in front of him... :p

He is right. Anything can happen at any race at any time. But he's also completely deluded with the comparison. Especially when you consider if something like last year happens again then it is possible he'll exit by the entry of turn one again.

Looking deeper into Alonso's comment (and who he tends to reference in said comments), all he's doing with the comparison is attempting to belittle Vettel's achievement in the race and call his result plus the title triumph lucky.

That's an ambitious interpretation.
What I see is frustration, at the beginning of the 00's, Ferrari was known for great strategy, they were always there when they needed to, but when they get their chance (like today), they can't get it to the point.
They should think about call some people who motivate the team and can really change something, like Brawn or even Briatore.

It is not an ambitious interpretation because afterall, to make his point he could have used many other drivers. Massa went from 14th to 5th (9 places made). Vergne went from 15th to 8th (8 places made). Ricciardo 16th to 9th (8 places made). Hulkenburg 12th to 4th (8 places made). But no. He didn't. He used Vettel (who gained the same number of positions as Massa) as he always does when making points about luck or good fortune.

Why?

I love how people keep trying to deny that Alonso does this. And instead of engaging with conversation with facts to back up their denial, they instead the entire context of their argument is lol or lmfao. Nice!

He's using Vettel because Vettel finished second.

You're looking for any reason to hate on Alonso.

Hardly. We've been through this before. I'm far from an Alonso hater. It is just one of the easy responses people give to dispute myself, or ellis or those that get bored with this kind of stuff continually coming from Alonso.

But yes, I'm probably over-analyzing.

Dude srsly, I respect most of your comments about Alonso, but that was silly tbh.

Can't blame him to have some hope.

Mind you, Vettel still had to overtake people.

From what I can see on the radar, phil is currently experiencing his first real Spa storm.

Yup, I was driving back. Had to slow to about 70 on the motorway. Then because of the direction it was going, it hit us again near the German border.
