Apparently SHR has made an offer to Kurt Busch for next year as an effort to expand to a four car team.

So SHR will field fourth car for Busch out of their own pocket. But won't for Newman who has partial sponsorship from Quicken Loans for 2014.

You can argue that Busch is better driver than Newman. Busch is still asshole and can sill be viewed as a liability.

Meh, Busch should at least one more year at FRR, to see if they can continue improving on their recent form (which has been great).

Hope Juan can get that seat. Is a improvement to his current team. But then again there are enough free agents ATM.

I'd like to see Kurt stay where he is. The team has made a real commitment to him and their performance shows it.

Also, I believe he's achieved a chemistry there there that will be hard to establish elsewhere. Just going to Hendrick isn't the magic ticket; just ask Jr.

As a Kurt fan I love what he's doing with the 78. That said, you can't fault him for signing with a winning organization should he choose to do so.

Another one of the worst-kept secrets in the garage area, and I'm quite surprised it might actually happen. Also, I would think they wouldn't be going through the contract BS if it was just for a handful of races... I'm thinking Smoke's out for the rest of the year. Just a hunch, though.

Finally, wasn't Mark Martin RETIRING-retiring at the end of this year? As in, hanging up the helmet for good? They were talking during the broadcast yesterday like he was looking for another competitive ride. I didn't think that was the case at all?

I think Mark will race as long as he is physically able to, as long as the equipment is decent.. and not full time.

I've definitely read elsewhere that Mark was looking for another part-time drive, although I have no idea where he would find one running above 30th every week.

So, judging by his addiction to fitness, forever. I asked him on Twitter once what his "cheat" food was - pasta, pizza, chocolate cake, whatever. He tweeted me a picture of some organic chocolate granola bar of some kind.

The guy's dedicated, no doubt about it!

With his physic, he could easily race another ten years or so.

He looks better in shape than Montoya.

Come to think of it, every other driver except Stewart seems to be in better shape than Montoya. The fat NASCAR driver stereotype is fast becoming a thing of the past.

If Tony doesn't keep his diet in check, he is going to balloon. He didn't need to go to the gym or anything like that before because he was racing twice a week every week, which kept him in shape. But as he can't do that for a while...
