Still awaiting official confirmation but it seems that Mateschitz and Ecclestone agreed over a race, it's being reported by Austria's main broadcaster and it's on the Red Bull Ring's FB page.

Nice. But wouldn't they need a bigger Grand Stand at the pitstraight?

Nah just let 'em spectate from the hills, there's plenty of them.

If its true, that makes 22 next year if New York and Russia happen. They could just get rid of Korea and Bahrain, make it an even 20. Plus they gain a Euro race.

Would be good. I quite like Speilberg. One of the few more modern tracks I like.

Wonderful if true. Austria is one of the tracks I miss most. And when it comes to the milieu, its mountainous and forestry landscape beats desert stadium tracks of China/India/Korea/Bahrain 1000-0. Bernie really should realize a new addition to the calendar doesn't always need a brand new track; many great tracks exist already and are waiting for F1 to arrive.

The Red Bull Ring is a good track, but nothing like the former.

Yeah in Bahrain is war and not good when F1 comes there... besides we have Abu Dhabi...
And Korea promised to build a city inside a circuit... and today they are still painting the kerbs before F1 comes... but i like the track. Or Hungary could go, but its been over 25 years on calendar so unlikely.. but who knows.

Austria always has had some of the best scenery not only in F1, but world motor racing.

Road Trip!

Could create a bit of a calendar cluster (not to mention the testing plans)...unless NJ doesn't happen.

I'm confused. ....there's some feel-good news in f1 for a change.

They're adding a good track and in Europe too...

The cynic in me wonders what European track we'll have to sacrifice in order to fit this in the calendar but no matter.

One of the best tracks there is from a pure overtaking standpoint. Really looking forward to this race already :)

But they need to do something at the exit of turn1, cuz cars will be off track there and have been in the past. So bring the kerbs to the walls or tyre walls to the kerbs...
But best would be those jump bumps like they are in monaco after quick swimming pool chicane... or monza turn 4,5
Oh yes and there is gravel, hope it will be like it is now

I'm sure they'll find it necessary to flatten even more gravel traps for tarmac runoff but oh well...I'd still rather see this track with tarmac than not at all.

Though. ...thinking about it, does tarmac runoff even work as a concept on inclines? :?
