Derrick Walker is talking to George Bruggenthies (General Manager of Road America) about getting that track on the schedule for 2014.

As awesome as that would be, Unfortunately it may come at the expense of Milwaukee as Michael Andretti ain't going to renew the contract unless he gets a new title sponsor.

That would be a shame. I'd love to see Road America on the schedule but not at the cost of Milwaukee.

^This

NASCAR has no problem running in the same markets twice or sometimes 3 times a year (most of the time at the same damn track) so putting RA late in the season and Milwaukee in its traditional 1 week after Indy date shouldn't hurt either race too much.

Otherwise, I can't choose between them, at a pinch I'd say RA but it's a hell of a hard choice :(

I would like to see equal setting in races (oval/street/road), like 6/6/6.

Personally I'd like to see 50/50 split between ovals and road/street courses

Less street courses, more road courses, 50% of the season should be ovals.

25% Street courses.
25% Permenant road courses.
50% Ovals (1/3rd short track, 1/3rd intermediate, 1/3rd longer ovals).

IMO, that is the perfectly balanced schedule.

Even CART in its heyday (1993 for example) only had four road courses (25%).

What would be the intermediate ovals?

I was thinking that intermediates would be the 1.5 mile tracks, with the 2+ mile tracks being the long ovals.

All joking aside, I'd really love to see Indycar test at a place like Martinsville. Jack the ridehight up and let'em go.

The Indy cars ran IRP's road course back in the late 1960s, so why not? They could revive that (with, er, a lot of work on IRP's part, but hey.). :)

For all people think of Indycars as an oval series, it's interesting that in the late 1960s they ran quite a few road courses (plus counted the Pikes Peak Hill Climb in the championship!) for a couple of years (not just IRP, but Mosport, Mont-Tremblant, Pacific Raceways, Brainerd International Raceway, and now-defunct ones like Riverside, Continental Divide, Stardust...).

I actually wouldn't mind seeing the Indycars back at Mont-Tremblant, on a more srs suggestion.

Bristol would be scary. (Closer to home, and probably scarier, would be to put the Indycars at Winchester.)

Yes but only if Junior Johnson and the Myers brothers are given guest drives.

http://www.racer.com/derrick-walker-ans ... /301114/2/

A nice article where Derrick Walker answers fan questions about potential future venues....

Seems like maybe Road America, COTA and even Phoenix will be on the Indycar schedule eventually.

(Everything else is a bit of a diplomatic "if someone finds the money for us to be there..." kind of reply, but the three above seem to be what the series wants first, judging by his passion for them.)
