For good and sad reasons, this one is to be remembered for a long time.

Now the emotions can come out from everyone at the pitlane.

No, 81st, but 90 years since the first one.

I know. I didn't say that it's the 90th start.

You said 90th Le Mans, you didn't say 90 years.

Yeah, another testament to forum spirit in adverse conditions. We might just spam the place up, rip the hell out of each other because of the team colours we choose to don, but when something like this happens I think we show our true character.

I think we all once again questioned why we love this sport but I think we all pulled together and got through it, it's a shame the awful things happen but when they do we can rely on each other.

Anyway, enough of the deep stuff, but this race was epic in a way I never considered and I never thought possible.

Would've settled for a usual good race though, didn't want to have to prove our character like this.

RIP ALLAN

Kristensen is very emotional right now.

There will be something for Allan as Dave Richards is up there now.

What an event this was. Weird feeling to watch racing with heavy heart. So different compared to Vegas 2011. Back then the race ended there, fellow drivers did a salute run while amazing grace was played, no celebrations. Now we had almost a full day of racing.

Godspeed Allan.

Jacky Ickx as a man who experienced way too much of this feeling. No better man to do that

Is the German flag flown upside down a distress signal like it is with the Union Flag? :?

Racing is such a cruel sport. I'm sure everyone questioned why they like it when it can be so desperately sad. I've questioned it before, I questioned it yesterday and I'll probably question it again (although I really hope not).

We all know danger is an inherent part of the sport we follow and without it, much of the excitement for following it would be missing.
I'm glad the race continued and I'm glad Aston kept going for Allan's memory. It's a shame they couldn't win it for him, but that's the way the chips fell today.

Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this thread. You've all been exemplary in your conduct in difficult circumstances and it always restores a little faith when a community pulls together.

Farewell Allan Simonsen, your passing will be mourned but your life celebrated.
