10 to the Aston. The Astons a fucking rocket. They were overtaking prototypes on the exit of Mulsanne corner. So much power.

How are the new Porsches comparing to that?

Tbh I haven't noticed. The most obvious things are how fast the Astons are out of corners, and how unstable the Corvettes look. The Vipers sit down off of kerbs quite nicely. I'll pay attention to Porsches more on Saturday.

I've used this occasion to install an avatar, after 5 years of blankness. Resizing on my tablet didn't work 100% the way I wanted but I'll fix that.

Toyota recon the Audis have got 50 more hp just from playing with the engine maps. It'd explain the 10 lap stints and sudden appearance of an engine note.

It would be better if they actually had some cutting edge technology being used in the cars. How is a hybrid cutting edge technology? A hydrid's already won the fucking race outright!

Nothing against Aston Martin, but I want them all to blow up so that Kamui wins his class.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Even though I'm a Kobayashi fan, I prefer Aston to win it (as a Prodrive fan).

I remember many years ago when Calum Lockie entered the first diesel engined car at Le Mans. It was miles off the pace because at the time diesel power was a completely new technology in racing.

Found some more details here - http://www.pistonheads.com/doc.asp?c=97&i=8355

2004 was the year, seems to get forgotten in all the current day diesel versus petrol, hybrid and other Garage 56 stuff.

I seem to remember one Aston was actually gaining on a prototype coming out of Dunlop on television last night.

Remember last year when we supported the delta wing as the plucky little underdog getting bullied in traffic by the big bad prototypes?

Yeah, that lasted about 2 hours past it being smacked out of the race.

Followed by tears of failure by the Japanese driver who tried to fix the DeltaWing in vain.

lolliBoP

Altough they got 10kg more, I think the consensus is still that they are being helped too much. Sudden sandbagging at Spa etc.

So, here's the cars I will be rooting for, in a preferable top 3 per class:

LMP1:
#2 Kristensen-McNish-Duval
#1 Lotterer-Treluyer-Fassler
#7 Wurz-Lapierre-Nakajima

LMP2:
#46 Thiriet-Badey-Martin
#42 Krumm-Mardenborough-Ordonez
#35 Baguette-Plowman-Gonzalez

GTE Pro:
#99 Makowiecki-Senna-Bell
#71 Beretta-Kobayashi-Vilander
#53 Goossens-Farnbacher-Dalziel

GTE Am:
#75 Collard-Perrodo-Crubilé
#95 Nygaard-Poulsen-Simonsen
#50 Bornhauser-Canal-Taylor

Bowlby continues, "We will manage our liquid fuel, our electrical power delivery, and our recovery potential wasted energy during the breaking process."

The goal is for the car to run one lap on electricity during each stint of the 2014 Le Mans 24 Hours, using the electric power supply "on demand."

"Breaking" is the correct word for that piece of shit. Their system would work better if it used recovery off the brakes.

Don't care about LMP1 unless all of the Audis and Toyotas go out and an independant snatches the win. I don't know enough about LMP2 (it's just a mass of identical looking cars with daft branding exercises linked to them) to make an informed judgement but really looking forward to GT. As long as an Aston, Viper or Corvette wins I'll be happy so there's a good chance I'll be happy. :p Same goes for Am - an Aston or a Vette would be cool.
