Old enough that he started his career racing on the Beach

Probably a similar age to Montgomery Burns

I'd so much rather have Tandem racing than single file racing as we've seen today.

Well, thanks NASCAR, really used to think of the RP races as a highlight of my racing season and the 500 used to be one of my all time favourite events.

Fucked that up a treat didn't ya?

Fix this plz.

Needs repeating.

This race was horseshit from the planet bullshit.

Even as a Kenseth fan, I'll admit that this race was boring.. did I like seeing him leading for most of that race? Yes, was it still boring as shit? Yes.

Danica afraid of getting freighttrained if she went low.

No Danica,
The training is later when Tony and Ricky "visit" your fucking motor home.

To be fair (and I know this is of little consolation) the race was decided on the track. Johnson and others lined up and worked up a long way to the front using the bottom lane. Obviously the last lap pass is the big glamor shot we've been spoiled by having frequently in the past handful of years but it's not always gonna be that way.

Plate racing looks very similar to the 1990s-style product (packs weren't as tight, plenty of single-file, and lots of leaders holding on to win). I think it's fair to say that era in general (including all the non-plate tracks) was quite nice. So don't shit all over the cars just yet. Especially until we actually get to see what it does on the other 89% of the schedule.

I honestly didn't think it was a bad race. It could have been crazier if they changed the aero package (not sure how... roof fin?), but not every race has to have a crazy finish. If every race DOES have a crazy finish, it kind of cheapens it a little when it does happen. I don't really mind if the Nationwide or Truck series has bonkers, random racing. It makes things exciting.

So... yeah, maybe put the roof fin on the cars or something. I enjoyed the race though.

Tandem racing was great imo, because it was actually racing. I could have just as well watched a random highway to see today's race.

Only watching Nationwide races this year, at least that car provides great racing.

I just wish Junior could of had that head of steam near JJ instead of that far behind.

It wasn't that bad...I mean, it could have been worse.

Seriously, tho, fuck Greg Biffle.

Have to say I agree with Chris A and Sunoco. The only thing missing is drivers who actually understand how these cars work towards the finish. The last-lap pass just isn't happening like it did before.

I think with all the changes NASCAR expects the plate races to be a certain way and yes, it's artificial and such but over the years we've just got used to it, if not addicted to the adrenaline rush.

Now NASCAR has completely either messed up their intentions for the new car at RP tracks or is finally deciding enough is enough when it comes to batshit insane RP finishes and the sudden jolt from side by side photo finishes amid flames and flips to single file boredom is what people find most baffling.

They've been selling the RP races the same way for DECADES and this race did not live up to that.

Jimmie does deserve it, he did work bloody hard to put himself at the front for the final restart.

Danica did well too. If she had gone low in front of Jr...

You can pass low after all. You just need to break up the top line like Jr and Martin did.

It looked like Martin had a good run through 3 and 4. I doubt anything would have happened, but he should have taken that to the outside with Kes behind him. Maybe the camera angle made it look more than it was.

Put it this way. I'll gladly take this sort of racing, especially if it ends up meaning there is some sort of meaningful improvement ahead of us on the other tracks.
