Best news I've heard all year long in F1

- Really proud for Perez. He deserves that drive, and by god is he going to cause fireworks!

I think the team was also fed up with Nico being shit in qualifying and Michael being shit in the races.

So, Steve Gutierrez at Sauber? One thing out of all this is that the Force India duo could be staying at Silverstone for a while to come...

Sutil syndrome.

Gutierrez and Bianchi maybe. That Ferrari engine connection might come into it.

Remember when Kimi was meant to go to Ferrari from Sauber, and McLaren sniped him? Yeah...

If they have Gutierrez and Bianchi, they'll run out of front wings :p

Whitmarsh's final way of saying "Fuck you Lewis, you are fired".

Since Alg seems quite vocal about having a drive, but not saying who, you've got to wonder if Sauber knew this was coming and Alg already has that seat? It's clear he's found some money.

I think the deal was done pre-Monza, but only confirmed this week when Mercedes came to an agreement with FOM.

Alguersuari and Gutierrez at Sauber seems likely. Sauber likes nurturing young talents and I wonder if he thinks Kobayashi has peaked.

Bianchi's ship has sailed. Lacklustre in GP2, not doing what he should be doing in WSbR, and apparently Force India are not particularly impressed by his speed either.

I shall also take this time to point out that Eddie Jordan is now 2-0 in stories resulting from investigative journalism.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

It's always good to wake up to this somewhat big news. I think both Lewis and Sergio will do well next year.

Quite a few pages popped up, not sure if someone else beat me to it, but it's official now that Hamilton is at Mercedes. $100m over 3 years means he will be the sports highest paid driver in the sport (Alonso gets $30m a year).

First thing I noticed is that Mercedes jumped McLaren by announcing their signing before McLaren had the chance. Bit of spite perhaps?

McLaren jumped Mercedes actually. They were the first to officially release any news, namingly that Perez would take Hamilton's seat for 2013.

And therein lies the problem with modern F1. A 23 year old is apparently too old for F1.

Also means that we'll have two yellow helmets at Mercedes. Oops.

If he had won something he would be in a seat for next year.

Which means Gutierrez is going somewhere. By the sound of it, up one seat.

Indeedy.

Gutierrez was born 20 days before Schumacher made his debut. It'd be hilarious if they were team mates.

The thing is, if Lewis can perform well, his stock will raise even if he doesn't win a title. Fernando hasn't won a title since 2006, but he's undoubtedly the best driver out there.
