Brawn says driving a slower car will be Vettel's biggest challenge in F1

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/95260

What do you call a driver who's scored 40 points and win for Toro Rosso in 25 races?

and the 4 year/$124 Million contract that Ferrari gave him.

That Korea track map makes me think they should blow up the section between turns 11 and 18 and just make it a straight. What a pointless sector.

But that would get rid of the last couple of corners, which are one of the few good things Tilke has ever done. Anyone know why they're allowed hardly any run off there, but every other corner on every new circuit is a 5 mile asphalt eyesore?

I thought Turn 3 to Turn 11 was the main circuit, but elsewhere it is the International Circuit that they were meant to be building a city around. God knows what happened to that idea

I've been saying that since Wickens was signed as test driver.
The fact that he just won the 3.5 title with a Marussia-backed car will give him an extra push.

D'Ambrosio can be lucky if he finds a test driver seat, but then again I never expected him to finish the 2011 season.

He's already lined up for FP1 at the final two races.

Well the problem is you can never, ever identify how good a driver is. He will always have his detractors - Schumacher does, Senna does, all the greats do. Schumacher only won because the cars were so good, he was a control freak etc.

With Vettel, I can understand people saying that he was perhaps fortunate in 2010 to have such a good car when he threw away a few races. But in 2011, if you had two Webber's in the car, you'd be hailing the MP4/26 as a great car. So what is it? RB7 is amazingly amazing and Vettel is doing the job and Webber sucks? Or the car is good, and Vettel is taking it to the next level? My opinion is the latter, but you're always going to have detractors.

Hamilton's best season in a way was 2009 when he put in some outstanding performances in that POS MP4/24, but even then you had people saying that he only did it because the car was the best one after Hungary, yet other people contradict it by saying Kovalainen was still bad. So even if Vettel did have a dog of a car, people would always argue over his true ability.

yes Vettel has a great car

but he didn't have such a great car when he won with a Minardi-Torro Rosso at Monza a couple of years ago

edit: won might be a bet word for it, I'll change that to: dominated

But even that performances has been debated over for days and weeks (on Atlas, admittedly) and a ten-thousand page book could be written on it, citing how great it was, how average it was, best victory ever, undeserved etc, depending on your point of view and your bias. I think it was a great victory - one that was one of F1's fairytale days - but lots of people wheel out the examples that Bourdais was 4th, the car was actually really good in the wet etc etc.

Joe Saward and ITV reporting that Force India has been sold

Quote:
Force India has become Sahara Force India with the sale, denied yesterday by Vijay Mallya, of 42.5 percent of the shares in the team. Sahara India Parivar will invest $100 million in the team. From what I am hearing Mallya is selling eight percent of his 50 and the Mol Family is offloading 34 percent. This means that Mallya will have 42 percent, Sahara 42.5 percent and the Molls will retain the rest. So who now owns the team? And what plans are there over the next three years for any change of ownership? More importantly, however, who can be trusted to tell the truth when people involved are capable of telling such outrageous lies?

My feeling is that Sahara will get control in a while but Mallya wants to edge out quietly. He has enjoyed his time in the spotlight and has spent a lot of money to up his profile. He cannot afford to spend more and so is handing the team over to people who can, reducing his losses as much as he can.

That'll be a Chandhok\Karthikeyan lineup for 2013, then.

Dr. Vijay Mallya: "I was shocked to read a media report that I am selling the Force India Formula One team. This is completely untrue and without any basis whatsoever. I take great pride in having been able to put an Indian team on the Formula One World Championship grid and have worked very hard to greatly improve the performance of the team. Now that India is finally on the Formula One World Championship calendar, my commitment to Force India becomes even stronger. As Team Principal, I will continue to run the team and I have no plans whatsoever to exit.”

Thats what he meant
