The reason is even dumber.

In the Jeddah weekend, the ramadan starts that Sunday so they don´t want to hold a GP that Sunday. Move it to another weekend I would say but no, race is held on Saturday.

And because there always has to be minimum a complete week between two Grand Prix, they can´t hold the Bahrain race a week before on Sunday so they moved that to Saturday as well.

amazing

Doesn't the Arabic world have their weekends on Friday/Saturday? That's why I thought they were making it a Saturday race which makes sense to cater to the local population

As someone who's struggled with shit Sunday Night/Monday morning time zones watching F1 for 20 years, I'm all in on Saturday races. I get to recover all day Sunday after an early start, instead of being bleary eyed all day in the office.

As a matter of fact, antipodeans (AEDT) get five races in a row where the time of the races isn't that bad.

Saudi Arabia - Sunday 2am (instead of Monday)
Bahrain - Sunday 4am (instead of Monday)
Australia - Sunday 3:00pm
Japan - Sunday 3:00pm
China - Sunday 5:00pm

Even Miami, the sixth race, is 6am on a Monday, which I can live with as it's my wake up time.

True, Sunday is a work day in the Middle East.

Why not record the race and watch it after your day at work? That's how I follow NFL and NHL play offs

Anxiety can be a bitch and ruin all your day waiting for the race in danger of spoilers.

I'm in an office full of engineers, many/most of who watch the sport. My gym buds who I train with also watch it, plus the people I'm connected to personally through TBK.

I struggle enough being away from social media from 30 minutes, let alone 12-18 hours.

Late Sunday night/Monday morning races I just watch the 5-7min highlights on YouTube as soon as I wake up, then I'll watch a mini (45 minute highlight) of the race after work.

in 2023 I've seen only half or even less of the races live or live-ish. I watch most of it in the evening. Qualifying is usually something for when the kid and GF have gone to bed and I skip the first 10 minutes of each session.

F1TV is good on those. You can miss the live race and when you get to see it they just put a link with no info on the race itself, even on the older races

So testing starts today. To "save costs", drivers will only have 1.5 day to get familiar with the car and solve all the issues before they fly around the world 50 times for more races than ever.

I like the Crapapp car with the fluro green flo vis. Looks like a mid 90's Minardi.

Albon is the first one to park his car with technical problems. Otherwise, solid drives from everyone.

At the end of last last season I said I wouldn't bear another year like 2023. But if morning test times are to be believed, it will be a copycat season of 2023.
Well, maybe we will get 10 wet races. That would save the season.

how so? There have not been many wet races in recent years where Verstappen didn't dominate everyone else.

The only way to save the season is for the other teams to get their fucking act together.

True.
But, like Monaco and Zandvoort last year, rain makes predictable race (or qualifying) immediately unpredictable. With slippery track you can never be sure who's the next one to bin it. That's why wet races are exciting, even tough after the event it might have not affected the results significantly.
I just love unpredictableness of motor racing, which was the reason I fell in love with F1 in the late 90s. That love has taken some damage in recent years.

Why are you surprised?

2026 is the best hope for a change in the running order

Until then all we can hope for is Perez gets his act together and challenges Max, which is a hilariously remote thought and even if he did, the team would ensure it didn't happen
