Ricciardo doesn't spend too much time in Australia outside the GP, right? Might be a one rare glimpse of him spending some spare time down under

He's ever only here over christmas for a short period, he spends most of his time in LA and Monaco. He does have a pretty big farm in WA which he lived in during lockdown.

Not sure if anyone has given this podcast a listen over the off-season. Talks all about the spygate saga of 2007 and the rivalry between Alonso and Hamilton. Definitely recommend for all. A lot of unheard off stuff I believe from this.

So the teams are looking to raise the entry fee for new teams up to $600 million dollars. Yep. $600 million. They think that valuations have gone up around 300% in the last two years. That is also reportedly what Audi paid for Sauber, so you know, ipso facto, that is the minimum of what each team is worth.

As pointed out in the comments, the teams are saying that is what other "franchises" cost in the NFL, but have totally different financial models which means teams actually generate a greater percentage of profits than what F1 teams do.

So as has been pointed out in this forum, let's see how they move the goal posts even further.

I really have lost most of my interest in the teams since this mindset of "franchises" has been branded about.

And Andretti will get the $600 million and they'll still come up with some excuse

I did a quick bit of googling. The new teams in 2012 reportedly paid entry fees of around $500,000US.

So what the teams are saying the sports value has increased 1200% in the last 10 years? Yeah I mean the Netflix series has bought lots more eyes onto the sport, but, seriously?

Here's an article that will produce a giggle

USF1 pays $440,000 F1 entry fee (article date: 12/11/2009)

Also, teams should be reminded that the existing teams entry fees were doubled in 2008 for 2009, to a massive 700,000 euros. A reminder at the conclusion of that season,

- One team died a horrible death (Toyota),
- One team was lucky to be salvaged by Sauber (BMW)
- One team was bought for $1 and had their entry fees waived and went onto have some success (Honda/Brawn)

The teams need to be more humble.

The teams are really pushing themself towards the cliff.

Helmut Marko is already having hard time dealing with Dieter's replacement.
Mercedes could any day pull the plug.
Audi can go faster than they came.

If Red Bull drops at least 1 team they wont sell it for $600 million. No, thats just the entry fee for new teams. AT already has everything in place so that's easily $1.2 billion.
You want RBR? Well, thats a championship winning team with its own engine factory. Bidding starts at $5 Billion.

You want to buy Mercedes? Well........ record World champion here........

And if they keep rejecting Andretti they wont have to come knock on his door either. Even if they offered everything for $1. I bet he's stubborn enough to tell them to fuck off.

Williams poached (loaned?) James Vowles from Mercedes for the team principal role.

back in the day they still had a Bernie that secured them big money and talk some sense (some, not much). Today is all money and no sense at all

Another bad season and Gene Haas might pull the plug.
Who will want to invest in Williams these days?
Aston Martin is not in F1 to fight for 15th place, if they show no progress then why stay?
What if Mercedes pulls out like they have done in so many series in recent years?
Rumours about McLaren being in bad papers are not new.
Alpine (Renault) are not exactly a stable team with coming and going and rebranding and still not being close to the top 3.

But yeah, F1 is in great shape!!!

I wasn't exactly tempted to renew my Viaplay package for the 2023 season after putting it on hold. Seeing this arrogance and pettiness from certain teams has solidified it IMO. It'll be race threads and highlights for me, at least to start out.

F1TV is 80€, so that's affordable for ad-free experience, especially if you watch F3, F2 and Porsche Supercup. Any confirmation if F1TV will show Formula W or F1 Academy this year?
Before last year I watched Sky F1 streams, but it was annoying how often they showed ads even during the sessions. For that price there shouldn't be a single ad anywhere.

F1TV is great! I'm not sure what I paid for the whole season a few weeks ago (65€ I think?) but well worth the money. Cheaper than what I had to pay for half a season of Viaplay. Has also got lots of oler stuff if that's you're thing.

Also well worth to download Race Control if you haven't already: https://github.com/robvdpol/RaceControl.
Not sure if the live streams are fixed (last year there were some encryption issues, if I remember correctly) but for everything that's not streamed live there's a handy download option.

W Series wasn't on F1TV last year, no idea about the new series.

F1TV improved my experience watching the races from water to wine. Local broadcasting is annoying, while the one they placed for F1TV last year is quite pleasing. Ben Edwards is a great character

Can you watch sessions in repeat on F1TV? I don't always have time to watch qually or races live.
