The discussion seems to be around Newey.

RBR says he is one of the 3 top earners they can exclude his salary but FIA says he is an external consultant so full cost is included. Result is that they're 1million over according to FIA.

Well, if he has a contract that isn't signed stating that he personally is an employee or an owner, rather it is something like "I, Adrian Newey of Newey Designs..." then yes he would be an external consultant regardless of how much he makes.

Possibly no more "crash-gate" straight at Singapore

Ruined

What the fuck is wrong with them. This will do little to improve racing, but it will remove what makes this race unique and challenging: narrow tunnel section, and long runtime.

They are building something else on the site, so the track would have to be diverted anyway.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

I swear they proposed that change to the circuit 5-6 years ago anyway.

I guess we get a decent 2nd DRS zone, seen as the one in the front straight is pretty useless.

First corner needs to become a single sweeper not that left right left business.

and/or the rule isnt specific enough.
If the rule just says you can exclude the 3 top earners working for the team you could argue that even if Newey is an external consultant, he is still working for the team.

Knowing F1 its likely a matter of the FIA not being specific enough with the rulebook and teams continuously being very liberal with how they interpret said rules.

We can accuse RBR (and other teams) of a lot but they aren't complete idiots. If Newey clearly is an external consultant and the rules clearly exclude external consultants from the top 3-earners exclusion RBR would never have tried to exclude him.

Newey was presumably also on sick leave last year after his bike crash. So Red Bull could claim that someone else was top 3 salary earner at that point.

Saudi Arabia want to organise a 2nd race. Fans will be against it, teams will be against it, Domenicali will find it an excellent idea.

They'll have it at the cost of somewhere like Spa, Silverstone or Monza as well

Of all the brands ford is rumored to be interested in teaming up with Andretti.

Watch people do a 180 and claim they always supported the Andretti bid if this rumor comes true

If it is anything like their last effort Andretti would be best served to tell them to go take a long walk off a short pier.

ah yeah, Ford. A bunch of bean counters who are ditching best selling cars in favour of electric crossovers. I'm pretty sure is gonna work out just fine, you can trust it

Pretty cool to see. Many much younger drivers have held back more than that when given the chance.

And now Pato gets his turn behind the wheel of the MP4/5B. God, that sound is utterly addictive. Proper lap too. :8:

That helmet cam is glorious. I love seeing him hacking away at the steering wheel, blazing engine behind him, watching him give it pretty much full beans, clear view ahead of him, and then, hearing the delight in his voice at the end.

I know I have established that I am an out of touch F1 dinosaur, but after watching that video, I will state it, not all progress is good progress. Imagine a grid full of fully competent and professional teams like we have now racing these things.....
