He had been peddling the lie he would be title sponsor in 2022 because a good friend of him bought a team out.

As far as I am aware there is no way another team could stop you from sponsoring a team.

So with the new technical regs meaning the underside of the car is now much more important in creating downforce, could off track excursion like this have a much more of an impact if they damage the floor? Same goes for if drivers are slightly too aggressive over kerbs

They do look great. Minus the wheel covers and the front wing elevation which looks miles above the rest of the floor, but I suppose that'll eventually grow on me.

Oddly the Merc looks like one of the cars with the least amount of development. Of course they and Red Bull will probably be clearing out into the distance again but it just looks a bit odd that the Hass has more interesting visible bits on it than a Merc. Though to be fair, those bits on the Hass probably don't do shit.

it looks like creating more rear floor area for the diffuser is the maint target for most of the teams. the merc cockpit is much farther forward compared to the redbull, but the redbull seems to compensate for it by having the power unit and tranny mounted a little higher up (compare the redbull and ferrari airbox areas behind the driver to see what i mean). having the driver farther back may create better wear and turn-in for the front tires, but a higher center of gravity might create more wear for the rears. having the driver farther back might mean the redbull is better balanced (at least it looks like it visually) creating an overall easier car to drive, and easier to adjust and setup* i'm not a redbull fan, but it'll be interesting to see which philosophies the other teams start shifting towards once they get to bahrain

Russian banks have been frozen, so expect HAAS to get in trouble soon.

Andretti getting the deal of the lifetime then. And us fans are robbed of a chance of extra teams

But if the car is good Gene might just fund the team himself again. My personal impression was that he wanted to see how the 2021 rules (before it was pushed to 2022) would work out for them.
After it was postponed he went all cheapskate into 2021. If he completely would have given up, I expect him to have sold up already to either Mazepin Sr. or Andretti.

it's easier for Mazepin to do a hostile takeover using funds from banks in Cayman and Jersey islands

Just donate to the Tories and they'll be able to move funds through London.
