funny that he drove this car once driven by Andrea de Cesaris, and now partners a driver who wants to be Andrea de Cesaris

In related news, they don't build em like they used to, and I like their old stuff better than their new stuff.

In other news, Bottas is going to Alfa Romeo, and Mercedes only signed Hamilton for two more years after Verstappen turned down their offer.

All I can say to Red Bull is careful what you wish for. You do realize that Max Verstappen is your driver?

What goes around inevitably comes around.

the problem here is not the money you can earn, but the amout you're allowed to spend, they're trying to find a loophole because you know everything to defeat mercedes is welcome

This video shows two things. Number One. The hit was fucking brutal. Number Two. Hamilton WAS fully alongside Max at the 50 meter board and didn't dive bomb him like Cristian Horner wants every one to believe.

But mainly this video shows just how brutal the hit was.

There's no question that Lewis gets alongside, but he was always going to have to brake harder because he was taking such a tight line into the corner, whereas Max swings back onto the racing line so that he can carry more speed through the corner. Even if Max left an extra car's width, I still don't think that Lewis is ever going to make the overtake because he's losing so much speed into the corner and he's a mile off the apex. At best they avoid a collision and Lewis loses momentum and a place to Charles. Max may also run wide.

I don't even think that Max squeezes Lewis towards the pit wall. Max makes a fair defensive move to the inside (not a last minute chop that he has been guilty of in the past). Lewis still chooses the inside, which would be a smart move if there was any kind of braking zone, but not a good move at this corner. The more I analyse it, the more desperate it looks from Lewis. It's a good job that he was somewhere near the apex when he attempted the same move on Charles, or else the outcome would have been identical. (Charles takes a very similar line to Max, and is pulling clear of Lewis until he has a moment).

That was an interesting angle. The onboard cameras (both front and rear) always tend to die just before the impact. I don't understand why FOM hasn't been able to fix that issue. It is of the utmost importance to have uncorrupted footage for high speed crashes for investigatory reasons.

He even used brake pedal because he picked up too much speed before Copse.

I thought it was that there's a duration of time between what's being recorded, the process of recording and the process of transmitting that recording - so if the camera is destroyed, at the moment of impact it will only have transmitted up to (for example) 0.5 seconds before the impact.

And anyone can be alongside another car if they're not worried about making the corner or holding their line.

For impact investigaton, they have the cockpit camera facing the driver. For other parameters they get full telemetry from the car, so the final T-cam half-second isn't really relevant.

I'd like to have all cameras survive too, but it's for FOM and for us viewers, FIA doesn't really need them
