Marshall Pruett did a feature on background of Davey Hamilton's crash from the 2001 IRL race at Texas - which severely injured him & put him on the sidelines for a few years

From 1994, a documentary focusing on local Indianapolis station WRTV's coverage of the 500 over the years. Features some rare footage, including bits of the live closed-circuit broadcast of the 1961 race.

Raw feed of the only known footage of the 1985 Michigan 500, Emerson Fittipaldi's first CART win, which went un-televised after being delayed a week and original broadcaster NBC refusing to televise the make-up date. No audio and only one camera, but you do get to see Danny Ongais' wild barrel roll down the backstretch at 1:11:00 and Mario Andretti's wreck at 2:41:55 which caused him to miss the next race due to injury.

There were definitely other cameras there, both of those accidents ended up on the "All American Crashes 3" video that I had as a child (probably my first ever motorsport purchase tbh lol) from other angles....

ESPN's Speedweek covered highlights of that race. So even though nothing aired that anyone today seems to know of (for all we know, maybe it showed up in one of the tons of UHF/cable regional sports broadcasters and syndication distributors around back then, very hard to search TV listings from those times), there seems to have been a camera crew of some sort set up.

That pass Andretti pulls off around the outside of T3 into T4 is one of the best underrated passes of all time

When does it happen on the video? If anyone can answer, please.

That is for sure an underrated pass.

And to no other than Scott Dixon.

Ah, CART 2001, what I consider to be the last true season of CART (2002/2003 just felt...wrong, for multiple reasons).

Also the last year Paul Page was the commentator for the series after a long tenure. Great year besides Zanardi's accident.

2002 was dominated by Da Matta and for some reason the championship that knew 2 of its engine manufacturers were going out the door cowtowed to their demands for Traction Control and Pit windows which dramatically hurt the racing

There were good seasons after that (mainly 2005 and I have a huge nostalgic soft spot for the AJ Allmendinger rise to power that was 2006 where there seemed real momentum behind the series at that point) but yeah, the days of 26-30 cars and such were over as the series scrabbled for survival against a hostile rival that was doing whatever it could to sabotage it, including getting Fernandez and another team to enter the 2004 season then pull out within a week of the first race in Long Beach. Shady shit like that.

In Brazil the change of TV broadcast butchered the series, 2002 was weird already, but having it live again was great. 2003 I couldn't finish the first race as they put a guy that never casted a race before, only soccer, with no battle for position on the screen until I left.
