There doesn't seem anything shady about that. The FIA has proven itself to be completely ethical and transparent numerous times. :whistling:

quite convenient they picked randomly number 2 Mercedes that could be running clean for the first pick. they clear it out and you don't see any black car being inspected

Wow, all those changes will DRASTICALY alter the track.

The change at turn 6 is I think going to be the biggest one as it effectively mean turns 5 - 11 will more or less be a flat out blast (with a lift rather than hard breaking at turn 6). I'm not sure about turns 13 being altered though. The corner looks like it will be quite a tight radius with what looks like less run off with the footy oval being closer.

So, after Albert Park alterations, lap times from 1996-2019 are no longer comparable. Apparently Hockenheim will inherit "the oldest track in the calendar" title, having remained unaltered since 2002. While you could argue that Red Bull Ring layout hasn't changed since 1997, removal of gravel from T1, T3, T9 & T10 has changed the psychological effect for the drivers and thus improved lap times.

I like the direction this is heading. Those fast sweepers with close walls are always spectacular to watch. It might be difficult to find a gap to go alongside as the racing line will keep crossing the track from left to right. Interesting how it will pan out.

What happens to the fast turns 11 and 12? Seems they're still the same so this might break a little bit the opportunity into 13

It seems they're increasing the radius of 15 as well, too bad, I liked that nice little tricky corner.

I hope they've got good scuba teams on the lake.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

It looks amazing. That's going to be such a high speed blast around the back of the circuit. My only concern is how easy it will be to get alongside another car, as the track constantly bends. Hopefully we'll avoid an aeroplane crash in that area.

Damn, these changes are going to make T11/T12 even more challenging with a far higher entry speed now.

I always figured it would be one of those ideas that gets floated every year (think reverse grid) that would just fall by the way side, so I'm surprised it actually looks like it's going to be enacted

Yeah. Think of how many meetings they have now had where they were trying to "fix" problems involving sprint races, when they could have spent that time trying to think of ways to get rid of DRS, make F1 more attractive for new teams, improve competition between teams, make f1 less expensive, fix aero issues, engine noises, track limits etc. :slaphead:

instead they'll keep proposing something way absurd and when people complain of their lack of sense they go "ok, we're not doing this, but we're doing that" and propose something less absurd

of course I'm hoping for crashes like those in Mugello to happen in sprint races to make F1 look lame

Fans: Too many races and too many of them in uninspiring places
F1: So add more races in corrupt places?

Fans: There barely is any action, we want to see closer competition and more teams
F1: So, raise the price of admittance for new teams and add more races with some in the form of sprint races?

don't forget

traditional tracks: the business model isn't feasible, lower the fees or we'll all leave
F1: no problem, many mickey mouse tracks are willing to enter the sport with their blood money/corruption money/mafia money

Hulk is now the Aston Martin reserve driver. Should we start a poll on which race they will put him in the car and ditch Vettel? lol

Very interesting timing. I doubt Hulk's been signed to put pressure on Seb - more that he's the back-up plan if Seb walked away

We need a term for this line of argument, trying to argue that because one questionable change is being made, F1 isn't doing anything else to solve "the real issues". It's not like there's a wholly new car coming next year to address the inability to follow and overtake, budget caps to reduce cost and success testing penalties to reduce the performance gap. You can argue these things won't work, but you need to stop pretending the one thing being talked about is F1's only strategy to solve the sport's problems.
