there were also the drivers who fought in the WWII and could had been shot dead like Karl Kling and Tony Rolt, but that was the war

also Robert Benoist was a pre war GP driver that was executed in a german concentration camp, just like William Grover Williams, the winner of the inaugural Monaco GP

On a lighter note, I'm amused at comments about drivers regarding the everchanging nature of this track, the wind, random grip levels and balance...

Welcome to the real world, snowflakes. That's when your salary is truly earned. Not on predictable tracks for which your team has had data since a decade.

this looks like one of those races that if you take Mercedes and Verstappen away would be an instant classic

I mean, I've seen some midfield battles all season long so basically this applies to all races IMHO. Probably not instant classics but entertaining to say the least.

That's bizarre. I mean, it's Russia, but what the hell? Has there ever been an F1 driver whose family member was shot?

The closest case I can recall is Ricardo Londoño-Bridge, who had his racing carreer backed by drug dealers and many years later ended up murdered.

Jackie Pretorius was murdered as well

No and it's looking like it'll clear up a bit but it's very windy.

The supports are being a farce, BTW. A multi-class GT race with 8 cars with husband and wife 1-2 and there's only been 1 green flag lap in the Sport Prototype race in 20 minutes.

Waiting for the usual radio message saying 'light rain expected in 15 minutes'.

or that kind of rain where the drops barely reach the track. It moists the cameras and the visors but barely any change on the track
