Totally needless competition caution IMO.

Geez, that was stupid. Kenseth literally spun into the pitlane. No need for caution!

Kes and Kenseth both cut left side tyres

Red for weather.

How did they get away with that with only a cut tyre for Kyle?

There were several drivers who almost lost it or got cleaned up there.

I think the long and short of it is, NASCAR races have always been far too long

Even in the good old days, the drivers would spend the first third to the first half of the race working on their cars, then the real racing would begin with something like 100 to go

Even Malcolm in the Middle makes a joke about this on their episode that takes place at a NASCAR race

As there suddenly became more competition on a Sunday and attention spans dwindled, NASCAR felt they had to make changes.

Reduce the race length? Nope

Make the cars more Racy so there's action all the way through? Nope

How about bring in bullshit "finishes" and restarts which guarantees false action and also gives the TV Networks time to plan even more ads than normal. THAT'LL DO IT!

They were also even considering to add another stage. :flag:

This prompted the best aswer, by David Land, at 9m30 :D :

Watching one Nascar race live for the first time since the 2019 Daytona 500 iirc. And I'm more interested on the a channel doing the Nis iRacing race on twitch.

Also watching live cause it ends faster and the package just sucks this year at Charlotte. Now that second Darlington race was tasty, and looking forward to Bristol!

Is it popular? A hit with the fans?

I don't mean TBK popular, TBK doesn't like anything. I mean in general.

TBK likes low downforce, high power racing, and a plate package from like 2000/2001 IIRC

the sadder part is that NASCAR passed on a package that was 900+ horsepower w/ the super low downforce package and no radiator pan back a few years ago. Apparently they were hitting 225 into turn 3 at Michigan w/ it

It took from gen4 car all the way to having the final race in the worst possible track at Phoenix for their package to finally use some brain and use what us fans have been asking for 15 years to produce some good racing again at that track.

unpopular opinion here - i like stage racing. DCfan said he didnt think it added to the racing, but thats objectively not true (no offence intended). drivers are absolutely racing for stage points. besides, stages are legit old-school; they're an intregal part of local short track racing

jeff gordon just said "i dont know how they keep these cars strait on these restarts..." downforce stupid. way too much downforce

Yeah, stage racing and playoffs with gen4 cars wouldn't bother me half as much as seeing so many years of high downforce and hard tyres with no mechanical grip... low horsepower and stages are just insult to injury.
