Rather boring silly season by the way. No shocking announcements, no spectacular changes. So far only Ocon going to Renault, and Kubica leaving Formula 1 for good. It is not certain who will be in the second Red Bull seat and therefore who will be in the second Toro Rosso (or Alpha Tauri) seat. Assuming Russell stays at Williams, there is only one empty seat available for new blood, also at Williams. My money is on Latifi. Anything else?

Indeed, but I think it's completely understandable. Last year we had an insane silly season even for the standards of other times, which settled things for this year and the beginning of the next one.

The next big story is Hamilton's negotiations with Mercedes as 2020 is his last contract year. This is #1 priority for Mercedes now and if this gets sorted soon, it's a potential story lost for next silly season.

That could become interesting. Verstappen is also out of a contract and RBR-Honda has to deliver next year. As for Mercedes. Will they then stick to Hamilton or will they try to snatch up Verstappen for the future? Or run both?

And Vettel is also out of a contract. A resurge in performance for him could add him into the mix as well. Being German might trigger the shareholders in Germany to demand hiring him.

But in all honesty I'm half expecting Hamilton and Verstappen to stay put. Vettel might sign a new deal with Ferrari, head back to RBR or quit.

Mercedes should do like Williams in the past and offer to his champ a considerable salary drop so he can get pissed off at and go race in a smaller team or IndyCar

I've been disappointed before with these so called end of contract drivers, capable of opening up a fantastic silly season, only to have their contract renewed for yet another year. Leading to disbelief and anger. Most recent cases: Massa, Raikkonen (at Ferrari), Bottas, the HAAS drivers.

2020 - 2021 will have a massive silly season, already looking forward to that, as a lot of contracts will end. This year indeed not much will happen.

Maybe we can discuss what will happen then. :)

if they didn't knee jerked the superlicense rules maybe silly season could get more interesting

they just needed to enforce minimal age of 18 to race at F1 but no, let's put those extensive points system to keep drivers away

Why wait when we can do it now! Hamilton 2020 champion! Zandvoort sucks for F1! Alonso to go to Red Bull, Verstappen to Mercedes, Hamilton to Ferrari, Vettel to DTM!

So does every team get a chance to do the tyre tests? I know they say these are development tests and the teams won't know the data on them, but I can't help but feel that they do get some info on them despite what they say.

It baffles me that they don't do what Moto GP did at Phillip Island the other race and have all the teams test them with a compulsory numbers of laps to be completed. They could do this a couple of hours after FP2. Old engines and gearboxes could be used. 45 minute session, minimum of 25-30 laps. Pirelli would have no complaints about the amount of data collected and no need to schedule separate tests. All teams get to run them at the same time. Fans get more track action.

Heck, if they can't fit an additional session, just do it as a replacement of a full FP for the public to see. We've seen how races and strategies get exciting when teams go in the race partially blind for lack of FP running.

Only officially. Its a public secret that Latifi is in the car next season. Unless they feel the team is too bad and decide to take up a test role somewhere else.

Well deserved. But how many races into 2020 before Albon is demoted to STR and Kyvat is promoted to RBR?

Maybe only for 1 race so they can demote Kvyat again and as a result bank a win for Max.

A story that has been making its way around the German-speaking media is that the Mercedes F1 team is unofficially for sale after the end of next season (Mercedes would stay as an engine supplier).

The interested suitors in this story are Nikita Mazepin and Roger Penske.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.
