Supercars are going to give up managing the much maligned borefest that has been the SuperUtes series however the team owners are taking control of the series and they're looking at modifying them to use crate LS V8s. The series is set to continue operating at Supercars events and will probably not have a name change.

the turbo diesels was a huge mistake IMHO

I know Isuzu and a couple OEM's only sell diesels but I feel like just using the standard gasoline engines would of been much better for the series (i.e. EcoTec I4 or the High Feature 3.6L V6 for GM, EcoBoost I4 for Ford)

I don't think that would have been much better received tbh, besides basically nobody sells petrol utes in Australia now though, afaik the only manafacturer in the series who does is Toyota.

ah I didn't know that, hopefully the crates help - to me they still won't be proper utes (still sad the recession killed the Holden VE export up here) but will be a ton better with the crates

overall if they were more like TC Pickup down in Argentina with the lower ride height & paired with the LS I think the hate would be a lot less

the LS crate program seems to work great for TA2 down there too

when compared to the V8 Utes, yes they are IMHO

Most fans hated the change (including myself) to the new Utes, especially as they were pretty slow & not that great in the sound department. Racing was alright at best on good days too

it may be a visual thing but the superutes just seem oversized on most tracks. they obviously have increased ride height compared to the old utes but it's also like they can barely handle getting around themselves (both in terms of speed and handling). such as on the tight courses where there isn't much room for error, they have fewer chances to make passes work which leads to more follow the leader type racing.

latest Enforcer & the Dude episode

some notes:

* - the Kuhmo V8 Touring Cars will not use the Super3 brand in 2020

* - CAMS didn't allow the Super2 + Super3 combined series

* - Supercars will have a fan forum on ideas for the Gen3 cars

--------

Chaz Mostert was on the latest episode of Mighty Car Mods

Stanaway says he's retiring from racing: https://www.instagram.com/p/B5Pm8VHhu1G ... 06evf2m6hg

He doesn't seem to really know what he wants from one moment to the next, so I guess we'll see.

I could see him trying to come back if a top flight ride was up for grabs, but I do wonder if his back injury from earlier this year had anything to do with his retirement

I think he was just over racing in general, ever since his back injury it's been BS after BS from Gravity management (remember them lol?) screwing him over, Aston Martin in WEC screwing over his car, and then Supercars, which you don't go from being the class of the field during the enduros to being a back runner... something else was up. I bet in some ways it's a big relief to finally retire, he was never truly given the right chance to show his talent.

I suppose I should update my avatar which I've had since he was in Formula Ford 10 years ago lol

Richie is without a doubt talented, you don't get the kind of form he had in '17 otherwise. But something's missing, either maturity or the ability to play the team or sponsor game. I hope he gives himself a chance to figure that out and maybe come back one day.

Also, Mostert confirmed at WAU. https://www.speedcafe.com/2019/11/26/mo ... year-deal/

Brodie Kostecki is also going to be an Erebus co-driver (with Anton de Pasquale) next year now that Youlden has retired. Will Brown will be driving with Reynolds instead.
