Have big giant stupid accidents gone down since the rule?

No.

Have cars not willing to go below the yellow line caused accidents?

Yes.

Will getting rid of the line cause more accidents?

No.

Will drivers driving like stupid assholes continue to junk the entire field by the end of every race?

Yes.

In other news JR says they should scrap the yellow line rule and let the drivers police themselves, thoughts?

This is what I've been asking for since the first time they announced the yellow line rule.

Didn't it come in after Jeff Gordon caused a wreck at Daytona?

I think it was more of a response to the Mike Skinner/Tony Stewart crash at Talladega in the spring of 1999. Though there was a close call in the Daytona 500 as well when Gordon went below the line to take the lead and just barely missed a damaged car limping around on the apron (was it Rudd?).

To quote Dirty Mo (assuming that is Jr's co-host), it was "bought in to protect the drivers from themselves" according to NASCAR.

Dirty Mo is the nickname of Mooresville, NC, and what Jr named his property (western town & race car graveyard) / podcast group

the co-host is Mike Davis

It was Ricky Rudd and, if I remember correctly, Rusty forced Gordon down to the apron in some sort of insane attempt to keep the lead - either hit a slow Rudd and wreck the whole field or back off and let Rusty keep the lead. Admittedly, speaking from someone who hated Gordon back in the day, his move to take the lead was one of the all-time badass moves in NASCAR history.

That was such a big balls move. Every time I see a replay even now it still makes me nervous.

Is anyone else starting to look at big projects like this and have that creeping, back-of-the-mind thought that this is all futile and the world will be unrecognizably dead in a few decades?

Is it me, or does it look like they used the pre-1997 paperclip layout in the render?

They did. The grandstand's also on the old location where the frontstraight used to be. Currently, AMS's frontstraight is on the side of the nearest highway - U.S. Highway 19/41.

So... Atlanta metro will have two theme parks, turn the track into the pre-97 oval with the old seats reinstalled and gambling in Georgia?

Cocaine is a hell of a drug.

There could be a pretty ugly story developing if what I read on Twitter has any truth. I think it's fake news, but give it a week and we'll see.

I'm sure there's a metaphor for NASCAR's downfall somewhere in this.

Smart man. Twitter is a cesspool.

There's a nasty rumor being shared by Drunken Brian France on Twitter that a married NASCAR driver (who has won a race this season) was caught fooling around with a Monster Energy girl.

I'm not well informed on DBF, is he supposed to be a NASCAR insider going incognito through a parody account? Because that's how he comes off in those tweets IMO.
