Let’s say, you have races that would get a 5 or 6 share of the ratings. You got 4 million people who stop watching and now you only have 1.5 million people give or take still tuning in. Those 1.5 million, more than half might have enjoyed the race. Yeah I’ll say more people watching enjoyed it than not.

Fuck you NASCAR

They should install turtles at more tracks. Like a double line of turtles along the yellow line at Daytona and DEGA.

On ratings;

Quote:
On a more positive note, FOX Sports revealed that its half of the 2019 Cup Series averaged 4,076,000 viewers, up +2% from last year’s 3,980,000, excluding weather-impacted races both years, and had a net rating increase of 3% over last year (2.44 vs. 2.37).

https://racer.com/2019/07/03/tv-ratings ... -averages/

That's not even an extra 100,000 on average, so I would consider that static. But it didn't crater like last year, which with hindsight was presumably Junior Nation walking away after being left with no driver to support.

It seems like they are down to the hardcore, which would support Marc's point - the fans that are left support the package because there is virtually nothing NASCAR could do to upset them enough to get them to stop watching.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

It's funny, the last few years have seemingly been just get to 2021. That year can keep NASCAR in its current state or be the push they need. There's a ton of pressure on the people in Daytona.

This might be the very essence of "Random": Someone called into SiriusXM NASCAR Radio's "The Morning Drive" while in labor.

Modifieds to Iowa - first event since 1988 (IRP) where it would be the longest traveling distance for the teams. Last race in the Midwest overall was Mansfield (2008)

Will be replacing the K&N race as they merge that with the ARCA support race on IndyCar weekend it appears

Tour Modifieds? Wasn't Bristol a combined race of North/South or was it just the Southern Tour with a bunch of the North East guys going because it was on TV?

Yup a Tour date, will run the July weekend with Xfinity (I wish they could merge the IC race weekend & NXS July weekend). Rumor has it that the track plans on having a big purse (hopefully that's the case). When looking past the incoming logistical nightmare, it should bring some huge exposure for the tour

Apparently it's just over equal distance as Speedweeks for either the portion of the field that goes down for NSS or the BBM's at Volusia

-

Bristol was combined before the merger, they cut the date this year. Southern dates this yr. was Myrtle Beach & Sobo. Martinsville confirmed to return next year on the spring NASCAR weekend.

Only other time north teams come down south is for the North South (hopefully that continues to be the trend at Hickory) and usually one offs in the SMRS (replacement for the South tour) or when Myrtle Beach ran some open comp races on 400 weekend

Found this pretty interesting. Why am I not surprised that Bowman Grey is mentioned.

That was a great video. I can't help but wonder about some of the names left out though - J.D. Stacy, Bobby Ginn, Alex Meshkin and Big Daddy's BBQ Sauce are the first ones that pop into my head.

You could probably do a 30-minute video on J.D. Stacy alone. What an interesting character.

He also did a video making a case for Bowman Gray getting the Cup All Star Race though.

I love Slapshoes' work. He makes by far the best NASCAR documentary style videos on YouTube.
