I'm not sure what's worse. A bunch of dumbass driving like last night, or a race where nothing happens like today.

They've made a good Cup series package for buying their titular sponsor drinks

Honestly I think the package itself isn't too far off. If you give the cars too much drag, they'll just be ARCA (which is also abhorrent).

I think a big part of the problem is just that the strategy was just dogshit. You can't win if you don't try, and if you're anywhere behind the top 2-3, you won't get shit done if you wait until the last lap. That move Logano made the other night isn't something you can just take for granted as always possible.

These hunks of shit are surround by such a giant bubble of air, they can't get anywhere near each other to make passes. That rear bumper extension has ruined plate racing.

Well, that was nothing, so here's something: a Kyle Busch standee with a balloon penis in its mouth.

*Probably NSFW*

I'd take yesterdays idiocy over this. This was just boring.

I also wonder if the playoff system has anything to do with is. If you're not in obvious contention for the win, there's no point risking your car for a few meaningless points

Last night, everyone died.

Today, nobody was even alive to begin with.

Speedweeks used to be one of the best weeks of racing of the year, we had Cup, Busch, Trucks, IROC, Goody's Dash and whatever else they ran back then and every goddamn race was a nail biter

Now it's an intolerable, endurance affair where only ARCA and Trucks have been worth watching

And it's not the usual "We're getting older so the things we enjoyed when we were young don't give us the same pleasure as when we watched with younger, uncritical eyes" factor either like probably happens with F1 and such (you know there are young kids now getting into the sport and this era will be their rose tinted glasses era as much as the 90s/00s is ours)

NASCAR has demonstratably got so much worse and even has screwed the pooch of its blue riband event

This has to be the year Indycar regains its crown as America's premier racing series. It already is, racing wise, it just needs the attention on it.

I don't know if zippy comes around here anymore but he should be proud that in a handful of laps, he had more action in a truck race than an entire xfinity race combined.

even a washed out race day is more pleasable than today's race

It sounds like Zippy's next race is going to be Vegas. Looks like Chad Finley is going to run Atlanta.

So this is the day of the Daytona 500. Am I the only one that woke up feeling like it's just another day?

I mean, in years past, I'd wake up the morning of Daytona beyond excited and ready for another season. Now? I woke up feeling "meh."

The only thing I find interesting is JJ's ongoing transformation into some hybrid of Earnhardt, Edwards and McMurray.

Is it because the primary scheme is now black?

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

I'm just here for the wrecks.

I'm planning on drinking and smoking during the race to entertain myself.
