i think the biggest question of the weekend is which track will have more junked equipment, with 2 races attempting to be a bigger crashfest (CMS) than what is the biggest crashfest of the year regularly (Martinsville)

welp I'm going to both CLT races now. Ended up getting free tickets to the Cup race from a friend who had a extra from someone else that couldn't make the trip.

-

Doesn't look like it will rain on either race day, hope it doesn't so I can use my camera more during the practice sessions & qualifying.

If I never see or hear the word 'roval' ever again, it won't be soon enough

I like how this Roval looks like a bullring, this makes the race seems more harsh.

The race probably won't be boring at all ends, even if the track doesn't allow for passing, that makes people go crazier on strategy and it's a chase race, ending the first round of 16, crazy things normally happen in that scenario....

XFINITY had a test day today at the track. Second session just ended 15 minutes early due to severe thunderstorm / lightning approaching the track at this time.

Brendan Gaughan was fastest in the first session & Cole Custer was fastest in the second.

Test day at Martinsville a standstill currently due to rain

Niiice onboard, the last 2 laps he was really pushing.

Amazing how fast he covers the oval portion, it looks like CMS has only 1/4 of Daytona lenght.

Thought the chicane was more like Daytona stile, but its more like the old Hockenheim chicane, very fast and not for many overtakes. I can see some crashes due to that, and some overtakes if you get alongside leaving the previous corner which gets you back into the oval.

The chicane and that previous corner both seem very fun to drive on the edge. Hopefully we can grab the onboard of the pole-position run on both series.

New surface, very slick road-course. People will take less chances, but self-spinnig will be easier. Also easier to do a bump and run... And it's the chase, don't know about not taking a lot of chances....

Very hard to pass indeed in most places, but I like it that way. Even more after the old Bristol was killed. And this Roval gives me that same sense of danger that it gave. I wonder if the tyres will wear fast or it's all about pitting as early as possible. Imagine if newer tyres gave you a lot of speed. On this track, it can be carnage.

This is going to be fun anyway. A real thriller.

Turns out...drivers are having issues with the track.

As usual.

As usual? It's the first race on the layout.

Why does the ideal line involve driving right over the ripple strips and onto the runoff?

That's some gooood design.

That backstretch chicane is wild. No good for passing but fun to watch them just sling it through there.
