Force India + Vandoorne's situation may cause a big swap during summer.

If Vandoorne gets fired, that could allow Sainz to join McLaren (if he accepts to go in a lower team!).
Free spot in Renault, the place may be for Ocon, who would escape from Force India.
Force India will need money, they hire Stroll, thanks to Daddy who will buy the whole team.
And Williams will need a experimented driver, Sirotkin can't do all the shit alone: KUBICA IS BACK!

Silly season is here!

I like the sound of this but one question...how does Williams survive without Daddy Stroll's cash?

This isn't Williams' first rodeo. They'll have a clause in their contract with Stroll that will ensure a hefty payout in the event of a divorce. For example, when Maldonado left for Lotus after 2013, Pastor had to pay a significant amount to exit his contract. Same happened with Jenson in the mid-2000's when he kept flip flopping on his decision between Williams and Honda.

Williams has also apparently sold a lot of land around the factory to housing developers, which will keep them in ivory backscratchers for a while yet.

Basically saying they've got the money to buy Force India, they had a contract to buy it and still intend on chaising it. He's a well spoken man and comes across as rather intelligent, shouldn't judge a book by it's cover

An intelligent, well-spoken person who claims to have a large sum of money but files accounts showing much, much less money. I'm sure there is a word for this... 8O

From what he said the company is backed by 4 billionaires, so there is plenty of capital there; and they have 4 new sponsors to bring into F1 as well if they were to purchase the team, which makes it even more odd that they got stopped from going ahead with the purchase. So there's definitely bullshit smelling somewhere, it's just whether it's on Rich's end or some behind the scene politics in F1 that don't want them to be in F1? from what he mentioned they have become the preferred energy drink over Red Bull by some large distributors in Europe so who knows if there's that element coming into play?

I'm not an accountant by any means but it would be interesting to see where that scan (who knows where it came from) of the accounts was from their UK operations, as he mentioned the parent company is offshore so perhaps the bulk of their money is not in the UK? (call me out if I'm talking shit  )

What I can't understand is if this guy doesn't have nearly anywhere near the money he's talking about then why is he even getting coverage? surely it would damage their brand if it turns out to be complete and utter BS, I can't see how there's any win situation for them unless it's true or are they taking the approach of any publicity is good publicity?

So, I had a change to watch that video. One thing that sticks out to me is how he keeps praising Vijay. I think someone here already suggested that Rich Energy was a front for Mallya to keep the team. Hearing how this bloke talks about him makes that likely.

I also took a look at their site. Seems like they try to aim for the upper market. You can buy a gift box with the following for 40 quid:
Quote:
2 individual cans of Rich Energy beautifully presented with a vial of gold leaf vodka in a black presentation box.

or a luxury giftbox for 250 quid:
Quote:
2 individual cans of Rich Energy beautifully presented with a vial of gold leaf vodka in a wooden presentation box.

Limited Edition

I mean, who the fuck buys that for an energy drink unless your some pretentious Paris Hilton wannabe.

On the other side, if they do make it into F1 we await a potential sweet livery. That black and gold looks sweet!!

Looks a lot like the 2009 snowplows, but I'll gladly take it if it means a step towards better racing.

The weird thing is, I've seen this sort of thing before in the UK - I worked for a company which offered 'easy to use' website building software, and we did have a small but significant amount of sites where people offered bespoke stuff aimed at the rich and successful. It all looked like this sort of business, but when you scratched the surface it became increasingly clear that nothing was going on underneath.

I eventually came to the conclusion that some people just want to look rich, and sometimes get caught up in their own image.

//edit: Should probably also note that one of his businesses does have just over 2m GBP in tangible assets, so he clearly isn't a nobody. But still, it's easy to have a moderately-successful business and claim to have billions of backing available...

Autosport have run a story giving a detailed background to the Force India situation. Surprisingly (to me at least!) they list Michael Andretti as one of the three 'credible' bidders for the team, alongside the Stroll and Mazepin families.

Andretti won't happen, unless they allow customer cars.
